A door was left ajar causing my Honda Accord to not start. When I try to jump start it, the horn blows continuously when all jumper cables are in place and I am unable to start the ignition.....all jumper cables are in the correct position. Any suggestions?

<>Your battery is probably too far gone...how old is it? The horn is going off because there is just enough juice to trigger the horn relay, but not enough to start the car. Putting in a new battery should do the trick. Oh, and if you are having someone do the work, have them check your alternator, too.

Sounds like you got a short....may be causing the the cable to ground out on the block or the body of the vehicle. This would be one of many explanations for not geting a turn-over. But, it becomes more likely when you consider that your horn is sounding off...if your shorting out on the body, the horn is attached to the body...this could very easily cause the juice from the jumpers to actually drive the horn...and possibly othe electricals attached to the body...of which there really shouldn't be anything else...

Also check your horn button on the wheel or where ever it is...hit it a couple of times to make sure it isn't just stuck...

Retry...

If it stopped it was just a stuck horn switch...maybe

give the battary more time to charge then try again...
Make sure all electricals are off, (lights, radio, etc.) and make sure the door is closed as this will acivate both the dome light and the door open sounder...

Now...check all of you cables, thouroughly...check your jumper cables for any worn areas exposing the metal cable....tape any of these with electrical tape...

now check both battery terminal cables...one will go from you battery to the body (this is your ground and is usually negative/black in the U.S.) The othe will lead to the starter, (usually positive red in the U.S.)....in reallity they can be any color if other people have worked on the car...

Check both of these terminal cables for not only exposed areas but also for any sharp bends....you can tape any areas with electrical tape for a short fix, but replace them if needed...

Now make sure that nothing is touching the batter and also make sure that the battary is dry and not sitting in water...

Check all of you connetions...make sure that the jumper cables have a good solid grip on the battary terminals and and the cars terminal cables are attached securely...

attache jumpers to the working vehicle and start the vehicle....if the horn sounds agian...you have a wiring issue....with your horn at least

Pull the horn fuse from the fuse box.

check the lights, radio or othe electrical on the car...if they are not working...stop the process immediately...you have a wiring issue which extends beyond just the horn...

at this point you will need a Voltimeter and knowledge to find the short.

My guess is that your jumpers are either touching the horns wire harness some way, or that the door being ajar let water in and under the horn cover on you steering weel, remove the cover and check to see if it is dry...

Good luck

With the jumper cables connected, while the horn is blowing, use your remote to disengage the security/alarm. It should then start.

Is this a new or used car for you? How long have you had this car in other words? Just curious if there may be a pre-existing alarm on this that you are unaware of. The reason i ask this is because this same thing happened to me with a car that i had and i found out i had an alarm on it this way. If not disregard my answer. If so, look under your seat.

Your problem is your security system. You need to turn off your security system after you hook up the jumpers. That will inturn let you start the car. You security system thinks that somebody is trying to steal your car that is why the horn keeps going off.

you got a short somewhere .... and this could have something to do with the way the alarm system was instaalled.....
