I assume you are a windows user. For most windows OS do the following:

1.Click Start
2.Highlight Control Panel
3.Click Power Options

Go back to the desktop and do this:

1.Right click once on the My Network Places icon and click Properties
2.Right click once on Local Area Connection and click Properties
3.Click on the Configure button below the connect using Window
4.Click on the Power Management tab
5.Click the check box next to Allow this computer to turn off this device to save power in order to remove the check from the box
6.Click OK

WARNING: Depending on your version of windows somethings might be named something different.

What version of windows do you have?

actually it sounds to me like you need to check your internet properties. It should state in there if idle for more then -- minutes disconnect. Change the time. Also found in control panel as internet options.

You talking about your wireless card? right click my computer > properties > hardware tab > device manager, click the + next to network adapters and right click your WLAN card and select properties. There should be a power management tab or a tab w/ power manage where you can uncheck power off device at idle..

Hi. Power management is in your control panel, but it seems more like an ISP problem/limitation to me.
