After about a dozen windows have been opened, i find it necessary to delete stacked up windows, several at a time, if I'm lucky, in order to browse with the same speed as when I started. I have Windows XP. As a beginner on this dadgum computer, the one thing I have discovered is lthat there are many ways of accomplishing similar results.

well its not only about the windowz , but its also about how much data , is being viewed in that window , or how much data it consists , the slow down is pretty obvious with a dozen windows open , as you run outta virtual memory , because windows is trying to handel more then 12 operations at a time . You can prevent this by buying more RAM , having a faster hardrive , or a better processor

All of the above effect the speed when data is being accessed.

Why would you want to open more than one window at a time just to browse the net in the first place?

Hi. Press the Windows key and M. (Windows key is between the Ctrl and Alt on the bottom left of your keyboard.) This will minimize all windows and you can select which one(s) you want to see.

use tabs, if you have that click wheal on your mouse, all you do is click on the link ( with the click wheal ) and it opens it in a new tab.
