From what I've seen, love is gender-blind. Most people, it's true, fall in love with people according to their sexual orientation. But occasionally, rarely, you get someone who falls in love with someone despite them not being the sex they desire, but they are able to love and be happily intimate with the person because of this deep love- it trumps everything. When they are with one another, it's not heterosexual sex they're having, it's sex with one another, and it's not a penis, but the genitals of her lover, and similarly not a vagina, but the genitals of his lover. Does that make sense?
It's happened to a few people, but, like I said, not many. You might want to look up Tom Robinson for an example.
If your lesbian friend fell in love with this man, that's fine. I believe it. However, if your gay male friend isn't in love with her, then I'm sorry, there's just no chance that they can be together, because only love could trump his sexual orientation, and you definitely can't force love.
Hope that helps.

What defines the look of a lesbian? So in other words, you're assuming someone is a lesbian because she looks like one to you?
As for the question, maybe close or best friends, but I don't think any kind of [non-fake] sexually love is possible.

i am gay and in love with a bisexual girl and she loves me to. we are best friends. because there is no sexual attraction. gay guys do not find women sexy and lesbians do not find men sexy. loving some one and "being together" are different things

Yea, sure they can be together. Maybe they're actually bisexual, and if they are happy together and love eachother, then more power to them. And, of course they still are their own gender - whichever they happen to be.

"Looks like" ain't the same as "is."
I know several couples that consist of a bisexual woman and a bisexual man, and in one of them, the man used to identify as gay before he fell for my butch bi friend.

love isn't always about sex...yes, of course, it's possible to love someone without having sex with them.
