I got a brand-new XBOX premium system that has the 20 GB hard drive but I just set it up and it says 10 GB are already full. Can someone explain? Is it because I inserted a game? I just bought it and haven't saved anything on the system yet.

The xbox 360 has a 20GB hard drive but 6 GB are reserved for system use. The rest can be use for everything else. The hard drive also came preloaded with video, music and other things like themes and gamer pics. You can delete all the unnecessary items to gain space. I delete all the videos, music and some of the themes on mine. When all is said and done you should have about 13 GB left on the hard drive but it will fill up quickly if you download lots of stuff like arcade games, new themes,.......I would get a memory card and put all the saved games on it and save the hard drive for other things.

I can tell you for sure that some amount is taken up by the operating system and all of the pre-loaded things. You might go through what was preloaded (for instance, demo games, arcade games, etc.) and delete anything you don't want.

Also, whenever there is an update, that takes up some hard drive space. 10GB sounds like alot to me too. When i bought mine, i had 16GB available out of the box.
