.375 = 375/1000 now to simplify this, first divide both by 5
375/5 = 75
1000/5= 200

now you can divide both of these by 25
75/25=3
200/25=8

these can not be further simplified
so the drill bit is 3/8 "

to write .375 as a fraction you write 375/1000 because the third decimal place is the thousandths place. Now reduce the fraction all the way down and it will reduce to 3/8. that is the size of the drill bit needed.
