The Lord Of The Rings got better with each movie, but they were not actually sequels, just continuations. The X-MEN movies have also got better each time.

X - Men 2 was the best out of the 3
Mission Impossible 3 was far better than MI 2.

Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle
Revenge of the Sith was the best out of Star Wars series.

Kill Bill Vol. 2 -- not sure if that's technically a sequel or a continuation, but I like that better.
Die Hard with a Vengence -- at least it was better than Die Hard 2: Die Harder.
I agree with PP who said Army of Darkness. That was awesome too.

I love Die Hard III! That movie is way better than the first two. Also, Lethal Weapon 4 is in my opinion the best of the bunch.
Beverly Hills Cop III is also great!
And, I agree, Mummy Returns is better than the original.

I like Mission Impossible 2 better than Mission Impossible. But Mission Impossible 3 tops them all, but too many elements from Alias.
