Lol, yes, at least in my family, we are loud. Instead of someone waiting for another to finish speaking they just "speak over" those already talking. This means at least 2 people are speaking at all times, meaning one set has to speak louder than the other. It gets very annoying! Sorry about that, I always find it embarrassing and try to tell them to keep it down. But, since they are family I cannot control their actions.

Dear Spud,

Before making quick judgements, you should become acquainted with cultures other than your own. The way Vietnamese people act in public places and the way other cultures act are entirely different. You cannot take what Americans do in the negative light. You must first understand them, just as you would want them to understand your culture.

Here in the U.S., when people go to bars and restaurants, it's a jovial occasion. It's filled with high volume laughter and fun. That is our culture. Perhaps in Vietnam, you do things differently.

To be fair, American visitors to your country should get to know your culture and customs so that they may not appear in a negative light to your countrymen.

Two wrongs don't make a right, my friend. Both sides need to be respectful of one another. And to get along, we must all know each others cultures and customs.

(-: Americans tend to be very honest people, and they don't put on "special" faces when they are out in public. If they act that way in your resort, there's a good chance they do it at home. But it's possible they are a little louder on vacation -- not because they are showing off, but because they are releasing stress and trying to have fun.

I think you should get in a different line of business, though. Sounds like you don't like tourists very much. I can't believe other nationalities (cough, Brits) don't act noisy in the bars and restaurants. (-: That's part of the reason they are so fun to hang out with . . . .

Truthfully, we tend to be an assertive group of people. We don't take any one getting in our faces about something.... and that goes for the ladies as much as the men. We have very kind hearts, but we are no one's door mats.... and I guess that shows when we travel other places. Sorry if that offends you.... but hey, that's why this country has the backbone it does. We are very proud to be Americans .

I have found that Americans individualy and in couples are fine - great even! It is only when they are in groups of 3 or more that they become this ugly, loud ,obnoxious, arrogant, ingnorant monster...
