I have a 4 year old daughter from a previous relationship who I can't get a babysitter for for Valentines day. My boyfriend loves her and accepts her, they both get along really well. I usually go to my boyfriends house with her for dinner on Wednesday nights. Usually I either take dinner or cook when I get there, although I really don't know what to do on Valentines night. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can do to make it as romantic as possible as well as child friendly?

You gotta find someone to watch the kid. Children are total romance-busters. No decent guy is going to feel like getting romantic on Valentine's Day when there's a kid around, unless you can find a way to give her an overdose of alcohol-based cough syrup and lock her up in a room somewhere for a couple of hours. That's what they did in my Mom's generation. But wait, I believe that's considered child abuse now. It's a miracle children have siblings these days! Yeah, better try a little harder to find a babysitter.

I think it's great that your boyfriend wants to include your daughter. Valentine's Day is just a made-up holiday anyways. Just make something everyone likes (like spaghetti) and let your daughter have sparkling cider while you two have champagne or wine.
