why is it wrong for a woman to do whatever she likes to her own body, why is it wrong if she makes that a choice, i mean nobody is going to have to have the burden of taking care of the child but her, its so easy for people to sit back and say its wrong but they arnt the one with the problem, and yes i know that adoption is an option but not all women can do that.

I think in most cases abortion is better then giving your child up for adoption I mean look at how many children get lost in the system and how many end up in abusive homes or end up homeless I think if a women can't take care of her own child she shouldn't leave it for someone else to take care of.

First of all, let me say that I AM pro-choice...because that is the law, and while I wouldn't have an abortion (and yes, I can say that, because I have been there, because I am currently 18, unmarried, and pregnant) I would never look down on another woman for making this difficult decision. But here is the answer to your question of why people think abortion is wrong.

The fetus is in her body, but it is NOT her body. Yes, she's doing what she wants to her body...but by killing another person. No matter what religion you are (or even if you're not...like me) it's pretty hard to deny that an unborn child will one day become a BORN child unless interfered with...and that's why abortion is ending a life...because it stops a beating heart. Yes, all women do have the option to put the baby up for adoption...if you're insinuating that people in their lives would disapprove, I'm pretty sure they would disapprove more of her having an abortion...so it's pretty much just hiding the fact and acting like it never happened. It all comes down to responsibility. You weren't responsible enough to not get pregnant, you weren't responsible enough to deal with the consequences of your actions. If a woman does not want to be pregnant, she has every chance in the world to take the precautions not to get pregnant. If she has one scare or one abortion, that should at least wake her up to the reality that what she is doing by having sex is performing the act that creates a human life, and she should at that point find a better way to keep from having a baby than killing it.

It is a complex issue and not everyone is going to agree. That's why this is a free country. If you want to have an abortion and you can live with the knowledge that you killed your unborn child, then go ahead and have the abortion...it won't affect anyone else as deeply as it effects you, so yes, it's your choice. If you don't believe in abortion, don't have one. People can argue about it until the world ends, but that doesn't mean everyone's going to agree. In the end, only the pregnant (or not pregnant) woman has to deal with any of the consequences of giving birth...or of having an abortion.

This is always such a touchy issue, I almost hate to give an answer. Most people who ask things like this really just want people to agree with them. I'll try to word my answer in a way that doesn't offend you or preach to you, but simply tells you my point of view, okay?

If you don't believe in God, then there's probably no way to convince you that abortion is wrong, so I won't even address that issue. If you DO believe in God, and the immortal soul, then you have to believe abortion is wrong, because the baby has a soul from the moment of conception. A lot of people don't believe the fetus is really a human being, but if it has a soul, it is. And if it's a human being, then aborting it is murder. So, it really rests on whether you believe that people have souls.

Why do I believe the fetus has a soul from conception? Well, when else would the soul enter the fetus? At two weeks, a month, five months, eight months, at birth? To say it was some certain time during the development doesn't really make sense, if you think about it. If you were God, would you pick some arbitrary time to stick a soul in that fetus? No. It would have to be there right from the very beginning. As soon as those male and female cells connect and start growing, that's a new life, and it only makes sense that God would want to protect it by giving it a soul immediately.

If you don't consider the God part, you still might want to think twice about abortion. No matter how you justify an abortion now, you may end up feeling guilty about it the rest of your life. It's worth thinking about, anyway.

I think that all children are gifts from God. However, I am pro-choice. I do not have the right to force my beliefs on you and I am NOT your Judge. IF abortion is wrong in the eyes of God, He will pass judgement. Myself, I couldn't have an abortion. But still, that is my CHOICE. As for the pro-lifers, how in the world can they justify killing an abortion doctor? They killed the doctor because the doctor killed. Makes a whole lot of sense, doesn't it? Absolutely not.

As far as the adoption option. That too is one's choice, but I cannot see how a woman can carry a child for nine months and nuture it (if only by eating well and seeing a doctor) and then just give it away. I know I couldn't. There are some mighty strong women out there that can choose that. Bless them.

What you say is true. If you carry the baby full term , YOU are the one that has to raise it.
As far as you talking about a woman has a right to do what she wants with her own body, that is true! So maybe, you might be a supposrter of prostitution as well. after all, it is your own body.
I am all for womans rights. But what about the babys rights. The actual act and procedure of abortion a torturous method of death.
After the fetus develops a nerve system, it may even be able to feel pain.
I never put down soemone that has an abortion if it is done soon enough, but people need to be more responsible about family planning and reckless sex.
The society in which we live, puts in our heads that abortion is okay, that it is our choice. I am confused at this because this is the same society where we grieve when we hear about that mother that threw her newborn baby in the trash. In reality, that is actually more humane than abortion itself. Why is it a crime to kill your child as soon as it's born, but the baby has no rights before it is born?

The reason people are pro-life is because they see the baby's right to life as more important to the woman's right over her body. So it really comes down to what you believe. If you believe what's growing inside the mom is a valuable human life then you can't kill it. If you don't think it has real value, then you think the mom's right to her body is more important. I happen to be pro-life, even more so after seeing my baby through several sonograms (I was high risk) and heard the heartbeat at 7 weeks. When I saw my baby sucking her thumb at 13 weeks I saw her as a baby and nothing else. I try not to judge people who choose abortion, even though I oppose it. I wish people would just smarten up and either not have sex, or use protection.

As far as getting lost in the system as one poster put it. A woman can choose the adoptive parents before the baby is born. The kids who get put into the system are usually Child Protective Cases. I work in the system so I know.

Why is it wrong to have children when you aren't married? why is it wrong to have a child as a teenager? why is it wrong to be a single parent? People are entitled to their own opinions about things. This is the great thig about the coutry we live in. I can believe that abortion is murder if I want to and it's no one elses business. If I was physically trying to stop someone from getting an abortion it would be different. Another thing, you say women should be able to do what they want to their own body. Why isn't prostition legal? What about heroin? Those things only affect the person's body. I also feel that a baby isn't a "problem," it is a blessing. That's just my opinion though.

Well I feel like this, its wrong because that child did'nt ask to be here and if the women who are having abortions would keep their legs closed abortion wouldn't have to be an option. But instead of abortion, have the child and give it up for adoption. Give the baby to someone that can't have kids that only make sense.

It also wasn't anybody else decideing to not get pregnant!! If a woman doesnt want to have the "burden" of raising a child, she should not get pregnant. There are rape cases and all that jazz... but why would a woman not want to give it to adoption, but is okay with killing it? I guess I think it's wrong to kill a baby, the same as it's wrong for me to murder you for thinking it isn't wrong. That child didn't ask for that ending.

I can understand your frusteration. IM 14 weeks pregnant and NOT READY , i was going to have an aborton and people kept yellin @ me how tis wrong it was realy frusterating casue they werent in my shoes. in the end i decided to keep it. i mean i kinda do think its wrong now becasue if i would have gotten onte the baby in my staomche wouldnt be goin to come out in august and it woulda been my fault. but people are so mean and not understanding at all. like the person ( gray head but didnt hvae a name) saying something about " women should just keep their legs closed" easy for them to say. men can sleep around and will never be faced with a choice of an abortion or not. just because a woman is pregnnat before she is ready doesnt mean she is a bad person u know.
