There are problems with almost any form of government. The world seems to be moving in the direction of, to coin a new phrase perhaps, socio-capitalism, where capitalist systems coexist with some elements of socialism. The U.S. already has it here, although many of our citizens would like to pretend we don't, or would like to turn back the hands of time to a less progressive era. We all are people after all and the word socialism derives from the Latin word "socius" which means partner or fellow. In order for the entire world not to go down the toilet, so to speak, we must all partner together to find solutions that blunt some of the excesses of capitalism which have caused many of the economic inequities and other problems throughout the world.

Shut the hell up right now you raving moron. (Guess I can kiss best answer good by).
If you honestly think nothing is being done about the environment you should take a look to how it was at the begining of the industrial revolution. No enviro protection. So gas emission protection. Mercury, Lead, Arsenic, Benzene and countless other joys were spewed into the atmosphere.
Do you realize that there is an entire INDUSTRY around environmental protection??? There are companies that take apart old computer boards in order to reuse almost 95% of the materials so as to prevent their being tossed into the landfills.
You obsequious little toad!
As for your inane "War, Oil" comment we are not in any war for oil so you can kill that internal conversation right there. Saddam did start one though. You see, he invaded Kuwait in order to plunder their assets so he could continue to fund his war with Iran. The US own nothing in Iraq and we are funneling billions of dollars to rebuild that nation.
As for immigration, how can you possibly blame people for wanting to make their lives better? How arrogant!
What role will capitalism play in the future? The same one it has for the past.....etermity. It was the desire for more land, more wealth, more more more that drove Columbus to Queen Isabel to seek funding for his voyage.
It was the pursuit of more that drove Ian Fleming to discover the benefits of pencillin.
It was the pursuit of more that got Orville and Wilbur to fly.
It was the pursuit of more that begat us a longer, healither life span, exponential advances in philosophy, technology, science, medicine, politics and this staggeringly unfettered access to vast quantities of human knowledge that we call the internet.
You know, your kind sickens me. You emo little pukes. You've never tasted desperate a day in your life. You sit at home, living comfortably off mommy and daddy, typing away on your $2k computer, listening to your$250 iPod, sipping your $5 latte while bemoaning the "evils of capitalism".
Get out into the real world.
Get a job that doesn't involve handing out pamphlets.
Grow up.

Do you realize that most of the problems in the U.S.S.R. stemmed from socialism? Do you realize that most of the problems in Nazi Germany stemmed from Marxism? Do you realize that most of the problems in North Korea stem from the State?
Environment: Even if I stipulate that our environmental record could be improved, it certainly beats the Soviet Union, Communist China and Eastern Europe.
War: OK, sure war is a by-product of our society, but it is declared by the government, not the free market. On the other hand, The Soviets certainly waged war, so did the Nazis. In fact, monarchies and Indian tribes engaged in war. War and conquest has been a part of every civilization that we have records of. War is socially universal and not unique to capitalism.
Immigration: What are you saying here? Should we live in poverty so that no one will want to come here? Are we supposed to have Cambodian-style death squads in order to make our society unattractive?

Nope its greed, while the capitalist system facilitates the greedy it in itself is not the cause of any problems. I could say that the absolution of the gold standard help the greedy increase the problematic effects, if used properly the capitalist system would by far create a better standard of living.

The main flaw of capitalism is that it relies on growth. Just like a sand pile, you can't make it go higher without making it wider at the bottom. At some point we run out of Earth. Good thing we have Astronauts. And Diapers.

Do you realize how wrong you are? China is far more polluted than we ever were. The war is not for oil. In case you didn't notice, Communist countries aren't known for pacifism.
I would rather live in a country that people will risk there lives to enter than a country people will risk their lives to leave.

hard to predict, what future are you talking about? in 100 years the earth will get overpopulated and very polluted. It's already is, but it will be more noticeable. Competition drives us closer to the end.

OK, comrade, here's a great idea. Create a society where nobody owns anything, where the state takes care of all your needs, and you work only to advance the needs of your fellow citizens.
That dreary, cheerless, workers paradise was called Moscow.

So capitalism is wrong is it? Would you rather work in a US (capitalist) coal mine or a Chinese ( Communist) coal mine? Would you rather live near a US (capitalist) nuclear power plant or a Soviet era (Communist) power plant?, etc etc etc.
