Are the Democrats already showing extreme spending?

“The Department of Defense offered Speaker Pelosi the same aircraft” as the one used by Hastert, said one senior Republican who has spoken extensively with Defense Department officials about Pelosi’s requests. “She found it was not big enough for staff, supporters and other Members.”

According to the news, it was requested for security reasons. Hastert didn't have to fly across the entire country to get home. A larger plane would not have to stop and refuel. The request was not actually made by Pelosi; it was suggested to her by security personnel.

Speaker of the House being 3rd in line is a big deal. The huge extra cost of the aircraft is a big deal. However, I don't think that it is wise for her to have to land for refueling.

What is the problem with in-flight refueling?

she wants a plane that can fly nonstop from washington d.c. to her home state california that seems reasonable to me, we can't have the third in line for president refueling in some random airport
