I love them! I love to check the differents designer websites to see what the lastest look will be. I have my own theory, but why do you think so many women are in love with the handbag?

Well since you asked "Em"... we are on the same page only I think it is also what sets us apart from men. Men carry only the basics to survive (in the beginning of time is was a spear, now it's a wallet) but we women carry not only what we need to survive but also what our tribe needs to survive. From there, I think that our "gathering baskets" got prettier and more creative as a sign of status. Also, an interesting thing to note is that somewhere around the 1500s, women stopped carrying their own neccessities, because they never traveled alone and had men to carry their things. Then, following a series of wars and a shortage of men, women began to carry their own personal items in small versions of traveling trunks or carpet bags. Women slowly gained independence from men and the handbag industry exploded following the sufferage movement, when Gucci, Vuitton and Whiting Davis came on the scene.
I love my bags and each one is a unique reflection of my personallity and independence!

It goes back to when I was a little girl. I love having a place I can carry all my treasures and arm myself with the things that make my life away from home more comfrotable. I think also that it goes back to basic biology. Women are "gatherers" and our bag is a tool for gathering! I'm curious about your theory. Do tell.......

I'll admit, it is partly for status. However, I don't necessarily think that is a bad thing. If you have the money spend it. Other then that, I like changing my handbag to match my outfit, mood, the place I'm going, or the season. Therefore, I need an assortment of bags in my styles, colors, sizes and for many different events and purposes. Handbags are just plain fun.

i think it has something to do with showing off
flashing,they seems to regard it,as a frend
a sort of walk around teddy bear.
i can understand that to a point, inside the handbag they carry a lot of personal things.
oke.... its no crime.
but wats killing me,is the shopping for one,she allways wants me around to give a opinion
about a certain bag and dragging me along
all over town, and ignoring my observations.
true. i make hasty decisions to get it over with.
i give her a bag for her birthsday, but the zipper broke, and i had to go though the motions again.
bought her now a expensive leather bag,in the hope it will less a while.
but even now,she got a new one she still looks
at bags in shops. amazing.

I have no idea. I just got rid of 50. And then bought 2. I love them. But I love shoes more. I just got rid of 75 pair.

I'm trying to curb my obsession. I felt pathetic having bought all this stuff that I didn't use.

We aren't. I have one and have had this one for 10 years and will likely have it for another 10 years. Having more than one is absurd. It has never occurred to me to shop for another when the one I have works just fine.
