What about sex and the media/advertising? It is a pretty huge topic right now. Look at that Snickers ad that got pulled. It was very suggestive. Also, look into the topic of Fallic symbols and how advertising uses sexuality to sell their products. You could touch upon the the Janet Jackson wardrobe malfunction and Britney's slip up. And mention how the media completely exploited both of these incidents and made them into much more than they really should have been.

I would pick either Media or Advertising though....I am not sure it is possible to stick it to both in the same speech.

:)

Keep your topic very small in its focus. Pick two generations, your parents' and yours. Ask your parents and any other adults who will talk about what they were told and what they thought, do the same for some of your friends, then compare the two. Look at:
How old were you when you were told about sex?
Was sex "evil", risky, fun, a responsibility?
Were you told about birthcontrol?
What did you feel about when someone should start having sex?
How were people who had sex at my age treated?
What was the most important thing you learned?
Write down these answers and compare them with different age groups. Depending on how long your speech is supposed to be you can have as much as 10-15 minutes of material or just 2. Figure about 1.5 minutes comparing each question/idea. Don't forget to leave some time for an introduction and conclusion. Your conclusion should be something like: "The attitudes that young people have about sex have changed a lot between our parents' generation and ours. They felt that sex was an expression of love and should be free and open and we now see that sex comes with risk and responsibility." Or something like that (I'm nearing 30 so my parents are of the hippy free-love generation yours may not be and the attitudes may not have changed much). I hope that gives you an idea on how to get started. You don't need to talk to more than a few people so you should be able to prepare your speech in about a day, if you have more time, talk to more people but don't get hung up on doing a sociological experiment, just get a little background.

Just throwing out some ideas:
- Impact of sex on American culture
- Compare and contrast sexual practices and openess today and how it was 200 years ago
- Compare and contrast sex between U.S. and Iran, or any two countries
- Psychological impact of sex on teenagers
- Does sexual drive decline with age?
- Pornography's impact on sex
- Do abstinence programs really work (they don't)
- Famous people who have had sex
- Famous people who have NOT had sex
- What age is too young to be having sex
- Do people who wait to have sex until marriage have more successful marriages? Are they happier?

I could think of topics for the next 4 hours. Hope this helps!

Assuming you are in a mature enviroment i.e. anything but high school, it would be quite informative to talk about the view of sex in religion through out human history. In the medival times it was frowned upon but in the classical periods it was very open and less "evil".

For an informative speech I think you have to give details. In other words, you can choose something like high school. How, when and do they decide to have sex and the consequences.

Jasmine; you should google Suffragettes in the 19th and eal 20th century; or the Victorian Period. These were some of the most uptight, but at the same time decadent people who ever lived. It is an interesting time in history

You could pick the star spangled banner as your topic. And just to be original find a cool version of it on Ares and download it to your ipod. And then play it loudly sometime in your speech while holding two small speakers, attached to your ipod,up in the air above your head.( sort of like that movie where the guy in the yard holds up a boombox and plays a song infront a girls window to win her over)
