Nothing like a rousing topic to rake in a large number of answers. Most of which, like this one, are pointless. But I just had to add one more pointless observation to the fray, especially since I didnt really see it in the answers yet. Of course reading might prove me wrong... oh well here goes....
I love my wife. Without her I'd be lost today. Without me she would be lost, and she would tell you the same.
A few years back, she and I took an IQ test. :) Guys, you understand the importance of not shattering our ego's here... I was nervous while taking it, and delighted with the results. We both scored well above average of course.. The interesting thing is, we also had the exact same score! After reviewing the tests, we discovered to our further delight, neither of us missed the same question as the other! Where one of us was weak, the other excelled!
So now for my answer. Yes. We balance each other out. Im sorry you have had such bad experiences in life with men. Truth is I believe it has more to so with the selfish, self centered culture we live in than anything. Then again, in which culture do those things not exist? I believe most problems result from one person spending too much time serving themselves, and not enough focus on the other half of the now one.
Good luck in life, I hope you grow well beyond any bitterness you may yet harbor.

Men are very necessary. Despite all the hoopla within women's issues groups, most women like a man to be a man. That's not to say he's a brute, hitting people, etc. A man protects his family. Man and woman together in a good relationship can provide a wonderful and happy environment for children to grow up in. A man teaches his son to be respectful of women and a man teaches his daughter to be respectful of herself. The majority of women who have excelled in today's business world had strong fathers behind them. And the majority of men who excell have had loving and supportive mothers. Girls need strength from their fathers and boys need love from their mothers. As much as I support gay couple unions, for the reasons I state above, I cannot support gay couples with children.

Are woman necessary . it all depend what relations you have to the opposite sex. if you think that men are not necessary why do you feel this way is it because woman find it hard to get along with men. what ever the reason is not all men are the same. there is men out there who are the opposite you really have to find them.

Men are necessary for the reproduction of the specie. You need a man to have a new human being. Also, are apparently needed to raise the newborn, although many women do that by themselves. So, they are necessary, yet not completely.

The question is as absurd as the question 'Are women necessary?'
Men and women are both necessary. Otherwise the human generation system will break down. (Yes, you can think of or inuent othe ways of reproduction, but changing such a natural way will create lots of problems and complexities .)
I don't know if the question arose in your mind or someone else inflicted it. Whatever would it be, I think those who think this way are mentally sick.
Get rid of such thoughts as soon as you can.

You copied walking on two legs from us, as we carried back meat in our arms to feed you and your offspring. Then you copied our speech, games, occupations, belief systems and clothing, among other things. Who would you copy from, if we weren't around, with our innovative and task oriented capabilities? As soon as we have cloning and artificial wombs, in the not too distant future, the question will be: "Are women really necessary, or should we leave them behind as we colonise first the planets, then other starsystems?"

Well it depends do you think you are necessary, because without a man you would not be here?
And if a scientist ever invented artificial sperm I would still want men around, but think about it if scientist invented artificial sperm who is not to say they could not invent an artificial egg and uterus?

The question soon to be asked, is if women are necessary. As soon as scientists can discern the last technicals to carrying a baby outside the womb (probably within 3 yrs), it is likely that women will become extinct.

Men allow a balance. My parents were divorced and my mom raise me. She was emotional, dramatic, and manipulative. My dad offered a save haven, because he was logical, calm, and he listenened to me.
This isn't to say that all women are those things, but because of my upbringing I've learned that children need a mother and father - the sexes balance each other out.
