Don't say you would bring them all home. I can't begin to list the reasons why a 100% withdraw of troops all at once is just not possible. If you think you could bring them home, give a serious explanation how.

No we would never make the mistake of abandoning ship immediately, that is not military minded and a poor strategy for the safety of our rear and front, we would get flanked on the way out? Duh? So slowly bring them home by March 31st start moving them out and by May of 2008 have them all out if we can. And promote a peace talk with the Iranian government along with the UN and start asking them what kind of bs are they selling because they all profit from this crap too. And why is Britain the UK and America always taking the blame when those sneaky little bastards are all in on it too. Just like WW II? eh? And not hesitate to say that he might have been too aggressive, and that the end does not justify the means however, now that the damage has been done? Where do we go from here? And pose that question and wait for an answer? If they are smart they will make peace, for it is obvious they will lose too! But Bush has no balls or integrity, to admit he was wrong, for being too aggressive without a plan? I personally if I were him? I would make Cheny resign while he can and then resign myself, just like any other white collar criminal or should I say an Employee in Big Business that can't cut the mustard , they usually know when to cut and run before they get the axe? eh? But Napoleon types never do that not even in the moment of their Waterloo so too bad, so sorry that is not what will happen. Because we surely could and would do better and survive if the pres, and vp were both gone. That would free up the whole pic and resolve things a lot better for peace reasons in our own country.

Good question. First of all there is no right answer. Bush, in my opinion made a mistake going into Iraq and I stated that from day one. We never should have been there starting a war when the ones who attacked us were getting away. Bush let Osama get away.

As for the war itself, we are in a quagmire.....very similiar to Vietnam. I don't believe an immediate withdrawal is good now. If we were to leave the terrorists from that region would march in and take the country over as they did in Afghanistan after their war with Russia. (Note - the US back backed the Taliban).

For now, staying the course is the option but I would do it with a shrinking military there. Very slow withdrawals. The PM there, Maliki, is a former terrorist himself from the Shiite Dawa Party who were responsible for assassinations of French and US folks. All in all, no matter the outcome that country is in a mess. At least Saddam ruled with an iron fist and removed himself from the terrorist activities in and from that region.

There's a lot of factors that have contributed to the US being in the situation we're in now....

1) Way back in the day, Pres Bush (1) promised the Iraqi people that if they revolted against Sadaam, he'd send US troops to back them up... A Democratic Congress blocked that action....

If they had backed up the president's promise, we would have had the people on our side- a lot less insurgents...

2) In the less distant past, Pres Clinton withdrew all US intelligence operatives from Iraq...

If he hadn't done that, we would have had a lot more info than we did...

3) Currently, President Bush (2) wants to increase the number of troops there... but again, a Democratic Congress is fighting him at every turn. I think a HUGE increase in troops could be very helpful.

I'm not clearing Bush of all blame, but I'm also not laying it all at his feet- it doesn't belong there. I've heard some of the mistakes the US made in Vietnam... I think we're repeating some of them, and not enough troops is one.

I would hit them hard & long. Waves of soldiers much like D Day.
Playing nice is not working - people still complain & say the Military is heartless. It is like a scab - it hurts more to pull it off slowly just pull it off fast & hard. The average citizen will not be any more upset than over the small attacks with deaths spaced out.
No, hey we are here are you the good or bad guys routine. Warn you are coming - wait 48 hours & the battle begins. A few hard attacks & I believe the terrorist will go back to their own country then Iraq can handle their own safety. 3-6 months & we are coming home. Our soldiers are trained to fight but not with 1 hand behind their back or blindfolded & that is what these "rules of engagement" do to them.

There are too many horror stories of our armed forces left with inferior or insufficient supplies. As of now, first I would confirm that pres of Iraq really wants US to remain. If so find out what the helP is going on over there where billions are going but US military is lacking and change things around. That would be a dangerous mission in itself.

I would let the soldiers finish the war with out recourse and let the General run the war not congress .. congress is why we lost the war in Viet Nam ... I had to laugh the other day when Hillery Clinton Was trying to tell a Four Star General with Four tour's in Afghanistan and Iraq how to do his job .. Here he has about 35 years experience and has to listen to some junior senator who is in congress about one day a week tell him what to do .....Give me a brake....

I would hold one binding referendum in Iraq and another in the United States on the question: "Do you as a citizen of Iraq/USA wish to have American armed forces continue to occupy Iraq?"

If the people of both nations say "yes", we stay; if they say "no", we leave immediately; if one says "yes" and the other says "no", we figure out a timetable to disengage.

I would take complete control of the oil fields, and create three separate countries. KurdVille, Sunniland, and Sheittel

1) Start bombing Iran. 2) Send 100,000 more troops and crush all who oppose us. 3) Then suck all the oil out of the ground, ship it to the US, then leave the country to it's own devices.
