I am not trying to hate on anyone but it seems men seem to place so much emphasis on women who are beautiful but have no class (degrade themselves on tv and show lack of integrity, i.e.Halle Berry, etc.) I am not trying to hate on Halle Berry-I actually was a big fan of hers. But I feel I look just as good if not better, and I know a ton of woman who either look better and/or act way better than her (i.e. Thandie Newton, Angela Basset, Michael Michelle, Salli Richardson, Vanity (formerly known), etc.-yet she is put on a pedestal as a token black woman-who is willing to take off her clothes and cater to what the media (the Man) wants just to get attention. I feel we as woman should strive for better than that-afterall, no one forces us to take off our clothes or compromise our values and shouldn't a good man think the same way!? I know a lot of people on here may think I am a hater-but I have no reason to be jealous-I just want to know what the big deal is-am I missing something?

I have to agree with you. I don't see why people are so "obsessed" with Halle Berry. I think Thandie Newton is a much better actress then Halle. The difference between the two of them is that Thandie takes more challenging roles, as where Halle has been "very" commercialized. That is how the American media makes certain celebs more popular than others. Just because Halle is more popular, does not mean that she is a better actress or any more beautiful than Thandie. But in our society, that isn't how we see it. Just look at Britney Spears or Jessica Simpson; no "real" talent, they just happen to be "commercial" looking. Does their height of popularity mean that either of them are great singers like Mariah or Celine?

I think that Halle Berry is a beautiful woman period. She has a tremendous body of work in film to her credit. Also, I believe she has an Oscar and other awards.
Everyone goes through stages in their lives and this may be one for her. It may also be a thought out decision, she does have that right to make her own decisions. Time will tell if it was a good move for her, I just don't think she can make a bad move in her career to the point of destroying said career. What makes you think that she compromised her values, you are transferring your values onto her. She may believe that the human body is beautiful and that there is nothing wrong in exposing it, I might if I had her body (mine is not that bad truthfully, lol) Halle Bery has enough staying power in Hollywood that she does not have to take her clothes off for as you put it "the Man" to get attention. I believe she has thus far remained in the background and not been a media whore as others of her Hollywood generation have been so inclined. I also do not think of her as a token Black actress, I think of her as Halle Berry that beautiful actress and I wish I could have her looks, she is beautiful
As far as your being better looking, that may well be, there are thousands of better looking men and women in everyday life. I don't think everyone can catch that shooting star.
Sorry, I was just going to give a quick response and be gone lol.
Hubbie says to mention that we also enjoy watching the other women you mentioned perform

Does it really matter? Doesn't it come down to the same thing - we are all people? What I mean is that we are all people with our differences. We all have different personalities and looks. Color, height, weight, ... etc. etc. really shouldn't matter.

To me she is an actress and she acts to her best ability. There is nothing to compare or talk about. In one movie she performs the best and in another she may not perform very well. So what's the bis g deal about it? We all do the same thing. One day we do very well in our lives but the next day we may not do as good as we would like to. Think about school or work. It is just life. We only have one life and the best way to live it is to accept, respect and be open about our differences (color, age, sex, cultures, belief, etc.).

We should all respect each other regardless of color, cultures, origin, status and our differences. We all are different and act differently but we all are that same - people. Why waste your time on finding out who is what and who thinks what? There are much better things to think about. For example, if we take 10 minutes each day and sit down with a pencil and paper and start making a list of problems we have in this world, we will not only see the problems, but will think about them enough to even solve a few. Say for example, if we all give in about 10 minutes to just think about those kids who are doing drugs or getting involved in crimes, in 6 months time we will all probably find at least one solution to get them stay at school.

You asked.

I think that Halle Berry is a very fine actress & is very beautiful, and has more class, that I have seen, than many actresses "out there".

I have seen many things that she has done and none of it, that I recall, has she shown any lack of integrity. She holds herself very well, in interviews, on the screen, etc. etc. If you ask other people, I'm not sure they would say she's "put on a pedestal as a token black woman".. she doesn't portray that at all in her works, in her speeches, in anything that I've seen. For all respect & purposes, my opinion is that she "cater's" to the media is because they PAY her. She's in the spotlight! This is her job.

If you really want to get on someone....get on ...um ..ok...I'll stop here.

I think she's beautiful, but she's not that good of an actress in my book. Most of her films did not call for any character and they were not consistent. It seemed like she chose her roles based on how the public may react. There is no sense of trying to be a role model to me. But, she seems to be suffering from a lot of emotional issues and self-esteem stemming from her childhood. I would prefer that someone who was not half-white and not light skinned attain her level of fame and recognition. I just don't feel like Halle, Beyonce, etc will ever really represent Black women.

i in my opinion do not see something incorrect with inclusive of her. She's proficient, especially & someone with good & undesirable characteristics a useless ringer for each person else. Does the actual shown actuality that she is blended complication you? She purely takes her outfits off even as the area demands her to finish that. In that note of she is not any diverse than maximum different actresses. There at the instantaneous are not an outstanding deal of respectable roles accessible for a black woman & i imagine she has done a especially good pastime interior the jobs she's portrayed. Did you ignore she's received Oscar?

I think she's beautiful. She's a very good actress but like you , i think there are other actresses out there that are just as good.

I don't think the fact that she takes her clothes of means she is selling out or degrading herself. I just thinks she loves her job and if the part calls for nudity she'll do it. Wasn't it just one movie she got naked in?
