Square footage is figured by length x width. So, I'd say that there are 1500 square feet in a fence that size.

300 feet x 5 feet = 1500 square feet.

Square Feet is a measure of area. Any measurement in which the unit is squared is a measure of area. Since you are dealing with rectangular area:

A = L * W
A = 300 * 5
A = 1500 ft^2

1500 square feet

l = length (feet)
w = width (feet)
l * w = square feet
300 * 5 = 1500
