Early this mornign I woke up soaked in pee. I am 22 years old and I wetted the bed! I don't know if its because I was so physically tired because I work two jobs and go to school full time and I was just so exhausted I couldnt wake up, or Ive heard that sometimes you may have a UTI..I have never had one before so I have no idea. But I also remember having a dream and I was going to the bathroom in my dream and I remember saying to myself make sure your up before you go..and I thougth it was 100% up and awake going. I don't know if there is something wrong with me or my bladder or if I have a UTI what should I do?

you were semi-awake with partly wishful dreaming. it happens rarely. you may have gotten scared. were you drunk the previous night? if you were not drunk and if this happens again, you may need the services of a mental health professional and/or a urologist. it's more embarrassing than actual problem. chances are this wont recur. goodl luck.

Hi, I'm not a doctor but I do know where you are coming from, as unfortunately I have done this myself on more than one occasion. It actually happens, on rare occasions, to a LOT more people than you might think -- just most of them (like you?) are really nervous or embarrassed and don't say anything about it! Lots of people have to go to the bathroom during the night at least occasionally, and if that happens when your body is too exhausted to get up in response to the sensation of your bladder becoming too full -- you wake up soaked. When the bladder exceeds the limit of what it can hold, the urination reflex kicks in and it completely empties, so it's normal to expect that your whole bladder-full (or almost all of it) would come out if taht happened, and not just a small amount.

If it just happens as an isolated incident, there's probably nothing wrong with you (or your bladder), other than that it just got too full and you were too dead tired to respond to it. This is more likely to happen to people who had a bedwetting problem during childhood (like after you were 5 or 6?), or just have smaller than average bladders, and it tends to be triggered by being REALLY tired, sleep deprived, sick, or stressed -- all of which make you sleep more soundly and have a harder time feeling it when you need to go. A lot of people also have this happen when they drink a lot of alcohol, for the same reason. If any of the above sounds like you, it's probably just an accident, nothing more -- it may happen again once in a blue moon when you get that tired, but it's probably not likely to become a regular thing.

If it happens repeatedly over a short period of time, though, then you might want to have your doc test you for a UTI -- but if you have one of those, you'll probably have other symptoms like pain or unusual urinary frequency or urges during the day.

Otherwise, just try to get enough sleep and not let yourself get that tired!! I had it happen to me quite a lot when I was in college and grad school and working/studying all the time so I was always tired (plus I grew up with a small bladder... I wet the bed as a kid until I was about 12!)... but since I've been out of school and getting a more normal human amount of sleep, it's been MUCH better.

Ive actually had this happen to me a couple of times and also a few of my friends have had this happen i think its just a result of being extremely exhausted and your body just didn't want to wake up and the dream was just telling you to let it all out so you could just sleep

Yes, it does happen. You are totally drained, and your body is in overload. I have done this once, but at least you didn't get caught by your 14 and 9 year old wetting the bed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
