There are a couple of reasons...
1st, if the little LV's are cut off anywhere, it is considered "fake".
2nd, on all the bags, fake or not, it would somewhere say the designer's name. On the fake, it would either be spelled incorrectly, or it say more than Louis Vuitton, it would say some things in "French", but don't get fooled.
3rd, the color of the original LV's seem to be lighter than the fakes. It gets a little obvious sometimes. Some of the fake sellers make it real dark.
4th, usually, there is not a tag on the "real" bags, but there might be sometimes. As I said in the second rule, it will have a typing glitch.
5th, there should ALWAYS be a serial number. If not, it is totally fake.
6th, Louis Vuitton bags NEVER go on sale. If you ever bought it on sale, it's fake.
7th, the print needs to match. Check the pattern on one side. Now, check on the other. If the pattern matches, it's real. If not, it is fake.
8th, on the stitching of a real bag, the thread should be yellow. On a fake, it should be brown.
9th, if there is a lock on any of the bags, it's a fake. Most people think it's real when there is a lock, but no.
10th, a Louis Vuittonbag should be purchased at a LV store or their mini stores, which are located in department stores.
Hope it Helps!

So, if the bag is brand new, the leather handles and straps are supposed to be very pale light beige, the replica ones are often orange in color on the straps and handles. Take a look at the stitching details, it should be neat and straight. It should not have a tag attached to the bag. Also look for a date code stamp inside the purse, and it'd be best if you took it to a vuitton store to verify its authenticity.

The straps of original LV tends to be slightly lighter than the replicas. The texture and leathers seems to be the same. The logos are slightly different too. I know the Prada's replicas is exactly the same.

First of all, WHERE did you get it? That tells you right there. An authentic bag can only be obtained from a reputable, licensed (to sell the authentic items) source. RE: high end department stores, boutiques, original items store, etc. Than, how much did it cost? You would definitely know a real bag.(if you know fashion)

The real question IS..where did you buy it? On the street...... chances are it's fake. And how much did you pay....LVs are expensive PERIOD! And if you spent what you would for lets say.....Coach...it's fake. It's not about what it looks like...it's about where you copped it.

you can tell sometimes as the inner satin lining of an authentic bag has LV logo embossed all over it.....you can also look at their website and find your bag to compare the smaller details...
