General wisdom limits it to around 20 pounds after the 5th month. Heavy lifting can cause abdominal muscles to spread and seperate, weakening the torso and causing back pain later in life as those muscles do not mend together as strongly once they've been damaged. But even lifting a very bulky item can cause damage; my advice would be to be aware of your body as you're lifting and if you feel any strain on your stomach, sides or back to immediately cease the lift and ask for help. Better to be safe than saggy later.

During pregnancy, they say that you should not begin a new exercise regime so theoretically, if you were benchpressing 60 pounds consistantly before getting pregnant, you can probably continue to press 50 pounds. So essentially, it depends on your fitness pre-pregnancy and how much of a strain it is for you to lift the item. if 5 pounds feels heavy, don't lift it.

relies upon on what you're used to lifting. My well being care specialist wrote me a artwork word for lifting no better than 25 lbs.. he advised me i ought to push it to 50 because i'm in very solid structure. [and extremely better contained in the first trimester] regardless of the indisputable fact that, my artwork wouldn't have mild duty, we should be ready to boost a 250lb affected man or woman on an eighty lb stretcher down 16 steps with out concepts... something heavier we may be able to get help with, yet not lighter. Heavy lifting is better of a situation on your again than the toddler. it does not reason miscarriage. Repetative heavy lifting [the time my artwork calls for] 10+ cases an afternoon may reason low start weight and preterm difficult artwork, yet not heavy lifting some times. some medical doctors say it ought to reason a nucal cord [cord wrapped around the neck] yet thats quite very hardship-loose regardless of out lifting something, and not in any respect frequently a situation for delivery. by using my artwork, i'm on maternity leave already. verify which includes your well being care specialist, they're going to be ready to inform you the finest.

Not more than 25 pounds; you can lift up to 50 pounds VERY occassionally, but check w/ your doctor first and not in the third trimester.

She can lift anything as long as she uses perfect technique and avoids val salva (breath holding), as this increases the intra thoracic pressure and may cause the baby to escape.
