My baby is now 2.5 wks old and she is always smiling and sleeping while she does this. U can see the whites of her eyes. Its scary to look at and tonight I just noticed a lumb on the rt frontal part of her head just b4 her hairl line starts. Do I over react and call the doctor again. When I was was in labor it took the midwife a few minutes to get ready. The baby was ready and I had begun to push when they told me to wait b cause they were not ready yet. I am so full of questions I feel like something is wrong with my baby girl but the doctors are missing it.

The lump could be normal - but get the midwife AND doctor to check it out to relieve you!

When my daughter was a baby, she would smile, goo and roll her eyes a little with the whites showing. It was GAS! - but sooooo cute :D

Don't worry about the pushing thing - with my second I was pushing before I got to the hospital hehehehe

If you think something is wrong, it could be. So see the doctor and see the midwife. If you feel they are not listening, go to another doctor. They have to listen to your concerns, check out each aspect of it, and explain to you what they think about it and why.

Totally, totally normal... it takes up to six weeks (sometimes more) for the head to reach it's normal shape.. especially if her little head was in the birth canal for awhile. So I wouldn't worry about the lump. Her doctor knows it's there.

The eye thing? She's just really gettin in to going to sleep... or feeling the gas... They don't smile at this age.. it's just a natural muscle movement she can't control. As are the eye motions. In a few weeks she'll start focusing her eyes on things... brightly colored things, etc... at that point her eye movement will start to settle down into what we think of as "normal"....

With the bump on her head i'd say make an appointment and have it checked just to be sure. But at less then 3 weeks old it is most likely just part of her head reshaping it's self. Don't get to stressed and don't get worked up my son did the same thing with his eyes at first my doctor told me it was nothing to worry about it's something some babies do. By the way Congrads on your baby girl

when my daughter was born she would do that too she would even start getting a frightened look on her face and cry out. it's just rem sleep. babies go into rem easier and more often than adults so it's just them dreaming. don't know what gives them smiles and nightmares at that age tho, maybe coming out the nice cushy womb lol. it's nothing to worry about, its natural sleep.

No worries. Actually all babies and peoples eyes roll back when they are sleeping. It is usually only when they fall asleep quickly or sleep with their eyelids partially open that we can see this. The happy and sad faces are probably him just having happy or sad thoughts. (Eating, having poopy diapers, hungry, and whatever else babies can think of at this age.) Yes it is normal and nothing to worry about.

You're probably observing rapid eye movement, aka REM sleep. That's a good thing! However, if you're not sure, mention it at your next check up. You should be going to weekly exams, right?

Its okay to worry, these little beings are new to us and they do all sorts of strange things, imagine what they think of us, yeah anyway my little four month old did the exact same thing up to 2 months I thoight exactly the same as you thought GOD IS THERE SOMETHING wrong with her, autism even flashed through my brain, but.. she was just smiling in her sleep, maybe we look the same way I haven't seen myself sleep. With the lump, does it seem to hurt her or anything, if it does bother you so much that your almost sick well its best to ease your mind and go to the doc. but otherwise hang in there sweetie your doing so well by the sounds of it.

Sounds like the smiling may be a bit of a tummy flutter and the rolling eyes part of the REM sleep. (Rapid Eye Movement) thats when we all children/ adults have our deepest sleep.

I would have the bump on her head checked, if you havent already, but the eyes rolling back in her head and smiling while she is sleeping is perfectly normal.
