how does that justify a black history month and no history month forany other race. It's kind of like the Black actors awards and yet there is the grammys and Oscars as well but there is no White actors awards because that would be deemd racial. Sort of hypocritical isn't it?

Amazing! Yes I am old enough to remember sgregation. This question is in no way racially motivated, it's a simple fcatual statement. Italians have done as much if not more for the US than mosy near any other single ethnic group and yet there's no Italian history month, or Portugeuse, or Vietnamese, or Chinese another group well represented and of Hispanics who are even more indigenous than most of the rest. Why can't there simply be historical stories each and every day and month without singling out one specific demographic. It is ploitical and yes it is racial unfortunately.

Of course it is hypocritical. The noisiest wheel gets the grease. Now with all of the politicians courting groups, they are going all out to get these 16%, which historically vote as a bloc.
Just try to setup a white group and you will be out on your behind.
Black Miss USA, Black accountants, black congressional caucus, etc. It is becoming a Politically Correct nightmare out there. But the new nobility which is congress, don't have to live with the rest of us, or live by the rules they impose upon us. One way to solve most of the problems facing us today domestically is to make congress live the same way we do, with the same wages for a part time job, with the same health care coverage, with no legal way to approve their own salaries, perks and other goodies that they clean up with while they tell us they are representing us.
Just wait for the Hispanics to become the most numerous "minority." The whites will then be in the third priority.

I am 100% white and think black history month is great. These people were forced to leave their own country and come here as slaves. Most were treated badly. The black slaves (as far as I see it ) are every bit as responsible for this country's growth and wealth. Yet never were they given credit for it. I agree that many peoples make up this country, not just black. But none made as much of a mark as they did. I am greatful for those souls that were drug here to a strange land and helping to build her to the stature she is now. Could we have accomplished so much and become so wealthy with out them. I don't believe so. They are a major part of this country's growth as the whites, if not more in a lot of ways. No other minority imparted such a heritage off on us as they did.
I don't see any thing racial in the honoring of blacks that do a job and do it well. I don't see it to be racial to do it for whites or any other peoples. How is honoring someone racial........

Anyone who is for the country as a whole. Republicans are only there to rob the country and destroy the lives of those they can use and abuse. They secretely hold the slave owner mentality. Romney made his fortune from family coming to this country illiegally. He made money from a cult. The get rid of the young men by tossing them out on the streets for the tax payers to take care of and then they can have their way with their young sisters. They impregnant them and then collect welfare from thanks to the babies they have. We don't seem to know or care about Romney. I guess the polished look has us fooled. A crisp white shirt to a republican means someone is decent. Republicans have no connection witth their inner guidance system. God to them is outside or up in the sky rather than within.

No. Black people are very important to American history and it is important that they are not overlooked. That is why there is a special focus on black history month. Even though it is called black history it is the history of everyone in America. Besides, black children often learn about the roles that white people played in history and it is important that they know something about what their people did in history also, so that they can get a sense of identity.
Black award ceremonies are not racial even though they do focus on one race. Since black people are in the minority it is important to have support within the communityand recognize when others are doing good things, when they would otherwise be overlooked in a more universal award ceremony.

You are probably not old enough to remember the psych study that shocked the nation - little black kids preferred playing with white dolls, found black dolls ugly! Some people realized things were terribly wrong.
Justification for BHM wasn't needed. Some of us are aware that in our country black people were enslaved - a situation that truly ended only 43 years ago. In my lifetime - white and black water fountains, in my lifetime, no place for blacks to eat, sleep, or freshen up on trips across the south. (Umm, not to mention lynchings.)
So, being aware of this terrible situation which we must overcome if we are to live out the true meaning of our creed, people sought out ideas to improve things. Some people realized that many white and black people are unaware of the tremendous contributions made to our nation by black americans. so, they wanted black history month, in order to try to correct that.
In what possible way could this be hypocritical?

What I don't understand is when some black people get so upset that black people aren't equally represented in the media as whites--well, if they make up 16% of the population, why would you expect to see as many blacks as whites in tv commercials, sitcom and movie roles, etc.?

Quit it okay. Hollywood is predominatly White and minorities aren't too much included in it... so they have their own little stupid award shows to feel better about themselves, why are you complaining. Its not that serious, why is it you don't notice all that you have but as soon as Black people want to do something for themselves its not fair. Who cares... I am not complaining why should you
