I just came back from Buenos Aires 2 weeks ago. (I'm from California). La Boca was fine. Very, very touristy, it's like a couple blocks of colorful buildings and after that it's very poor. It's cool to go there for a couple hours and just look around but I think there are better places to visit. And I agree with the others, Palermo is wonderful! I loved Buenos Aires.

La Boca is a famous neighbourghood in Buenos Aires but it's not the best place to live. It's visited by hundreds of tourists everyday but they only see "the nice part": the football stadium and Caminito. A lot of inmigrants and poor people live in small houses or even rooms called "Coventillos"... If you are a Boca fan just go and have a look!

I am argentina and i live in Buenos Aires. La Boca is a place to visit but not to live there. At night there are places and people really dangerous not only for the turist. In La Boca there are "caminito" with many places to visit, like restaurants, tango dancing, local artwork, the Rio de La Plata...
I recomend to stay in Palermo if you want to have fun at night (ang day) is more secure, and there is many options.

Buenos Aires quite has plenty to provide quite everyone, no count what you may be coming to the city for. The food is staggering, with countless the superb steak/meat interior the international. be certain to hit up a parilla or 2 and the empanadas everywhere in the city make for suitable snacks. For procuring you should inspect Florida street because it has a tremendous number of shops, yet be careful because it receives crowded in the course of the day and is healthier for pickpockets. My widespread section for procuring is Palermo Hollywood, which has countless cool little shops with a extra welcoming surroundings. in case you are able to, attempt to capture a Boca/River Plate futbol tournament because it really is an experience unlike the different interior the international. Nightlife in Buenos Aires is out of this international. it really is common to get abode from the club at 7 or 8am. the superb hour of the club is often 4-5am, and maximum folk dont go away their residences til a million-2am. in case you want to have a loopy evening, be certain to come back carry close out with us on the Buenos Aires Pub move slowly. Its how you are able to take up B.A. nightlife and meet human beings from all walks of existence. wish this helps! -The BA Pub move slowly crew-

Is a great place to visit but during the day! dont go there during the night and try not to carry a lot $ (just in case)
Is not a place to live cause a nice toursit place but kinda poor and full of garbage
if you wanna stay in a good place i recommend Palermo or downtown near the Obelisco (but you will have to be careful during the night too)

la boca has el caminito where all the buildings have different colors. It used to the Italian quarters and at the time when ships came in with some extra paint they used to paint there buildings with it because there was no money. Its great to walk and go shopping for typical souvenirs of Argentina. BEWARE OF THE PICK POCKETS.

Well.. I was there many years ago, it was just a colorful suburb of Buenos Aires where they said tango was born. You could get your souvenirs there from the arts and crafts stalls. This is one of the must-thing-to-do for a frist time tourist to Buenos Aires. I always loved the place.

It is a very lively place with many things to do:

Markets
Tango
Ports
ect.

However, if catching Subte be very careful walking from the station to the area (very poor and can be dangerous)

Good luck!
