Here is the French and Vietnamese museums one of them have the radio transmissions begging for help, sad. You cannot beat an insurgency. I can remember breaking through triple canopy to find a column of burnt out French tanks. I always wondered about the fear, loneness and pain they must have faced and endured. sorry, i don't think you will find any pictures of a "fortress". dien bien phu was a french fire base and as such consisted of sand bag reinforced bunkers. try this sight,
