Definitely!
In my job, I check up on many divisions to make sure that no mistakes have been made. Sometimes, if I pick up on something, the person resonsible will fight to the death to try and prove that are in fact right. When I nail the nail into their coffin showing that they are wrong, it feels so good, especially when I do it to very senior people who have a massive chip on their shoulder.

If it's over historical facts and grammar then yeah. I like to feel smarter than people. But I don't put people down if I correct them about something. It also depends on if it is a person who is always competing with me--then I'm very satisfied. I usually don't work to prove people wrong. If I think something some one says is incorrect I'll say so. But I don't go home and research things to try to prove people wrong.

Unfortunately, I used to when I was little it is a very wrong way to feel. I honeslty try not to feel satisfation when I prove others wrong, cause I know how they feel I am sure everyone has been in a situation before where they were proved wrong. I try not to complain, or be happy to prove some one wrong. Cause that is just being rude.

Proving others wrong is more about proving myself right. Often we connect self-esteem with what we think we know. Typically proving someone wrong is the "side-effect" of trying to feel like we know what we are talking about.

Not to be clinical, but it is a very common, human response, often referred to as "schadenfreude". Simply put, deriving some pleasure from another person's woe, troubles, or misfortune. Kinda like when someone cuts you off in traffic, then a mile up the road, you see them get a ticket. Not a nice response, but how can you not grin just a little?! ;-)

I don't gloat about it.... do I feel satisfied though? I really don't think I do. I think it depends on the situation and how much of a fight the other person puts up defending their point. If they get pushy and insistant, then yes. If it's just a normal everyday thing, then no not at all.

depends on the person-when I see an opportunity to put an egotist down, I get a lot of satisfaction. especially if I get to put them down in front of a large group of people! but, when it's my loved ones-I don't.

Yes, it's always nice to know you are correct in a situation of two different opinions just as long as your an *** about being right.
