There are 120 inches in 10 feet. Subtract 11.25 from that and you will be able to do it 10 times.
Another way to do it is divide 120 by 11.25. This gives you 10.666.

You can cut 10 shelves 11 1/4 inches long from a 10 foot board. Each saw cut is 1/8 inch and you will make 9 cuts leaving a board 7 5/8 inches long. The board is 120 inches long. 10 shelves 11 1/4 long = 112 1/2 inches. 9 cuts of 1/8 inch = 9/8 or 1 1/8 inch. 112 1/2 + 1 1/8 = 112 3/8 from 120 = 7 5/8. 112 3/8 + 7 5/8 = 119 8/8 or 120 inches.
