Perhaps this was true a few centuries ago, but not in modern times.
What we perceive as reality now encompass all kinds of different phenomenon not evident to our senses - some of which are absolutely contrary to our senses.
Wireless transmissions, the equality of mass and energy, the universal constant of the speed of light, time and distance dilation at speeds approaching light - and, simply put, all of the things we have discovered through experimentation and mathematical deduction that is apparent not through our senses, but through our thought processes and desire to unravel the mysteries.
