I have a Craftsman 1/2 hp Garage Door Opener. When I press the remote the door just click, Click 5 times and doesn't move. When I use the button on the wall it works, but when the door reach the buttom it goes back up agian (I have to hold the button to wait for the door goes all the way down, otherwise the door just stop as soon as I release the button). If I keep pressing the wall button after the door reach the bottom, the door just gives a click click sound without any movement. I have to wait few minutes before the button works again. I installed this garage door opener only 2 years ago. I tried to disenage the garage door just to check if the chain move, but didn't. Any idea. Thanks.

Without a doubt, it's the sensors mounted on your door frame. The symptoms you describe are textbook. The sensors have either a red or green "pilot light" on them...Steady lights mean in alignment, blinking or slight flicker means out of alignment.
Loosen the wingnuts and point them directly at each other, by eyeball or with a length of string stretched across. Then give it a whirl.
About those Torsion Springs! If you have never dealt with them before, DO NOT attempt to adjust them...call a professional. Messing with them is a good way to change your name to Lefty, at the very least!

First properly adjust those Torsion springs, you should be able to lift that door up and down with a couple fingers when those torsions are properly adjusted.

Second, there is a knob on that opener that adjusts for "pressure" , that is resistance pressure, should the door hit an object, crank that knob clockwise to adjust down force.

Third, there are distance switches that stop the door on down and stop it on up Those need adjusting

Fourth, that remote needs to be programmed to suit the opener setting. The two need to be set accordingly

My son works at Sears and he suggests you go down there and talk to someone about that opener so that you will understand the adjujstments necessary. and pick up a manual on your door.

Check the operators manual for troubleshooting tips. Consider the electric eye sensor alignment that is intended to prevent objects (like children and pets) from getting crushed by the door. Also, look in the manual to see if your opener has a clutch to see if is out of adjustment.

Try switching off the power entirely to the unit. That will reset the electronic module. I think this model has a red button overload that needs manual reset. On the left side of the unit is a manual reset button, push that in and reset the overload .
