never been to China, but I hear, like Hong Kong, it is tremendously polluted. Depends on what you mean by "better". This is a subjective question....for me, there is no place that beats US of A, but if you think it is better in Asia....do send a postcard when you get there!
Now Thailand...I could stand to spend my winters on Phuket...

Hong Kong is more expensive than most of the U.S. of A except for maybe New York or LA. China is cheap but people there make on a few dollars a day. New Zealand is considered a good place to live. It's values and lifestyle are compared to how it was in U.S. of A. back in the 50's. Australia is also a great place.

Its possible. Some people have different expectations in life and what the US provides doesnt really suit their needs.
The US isnt for everyone. Everyone has a different take onlife.
My family is originally from Europe, and have lived here in the US for well over 20 years now. They want to move back to Europe now that they are getting ready to retire. They know that they can do more there and travel more than if they stayed in the States. Some people enjoy it here in the states.
Never been to China, so I cant say that I wouldnt like to live there. Im not quick to judge like a lot of Americans are. But it would be a different experience thats for sure, something I would definately be willing to try if the opportunity came to be.

i doubt the people in Asian countries would think that they were better of by being there. If you needed to work, you wouldnt get the same as your home country. If you were retired, money would certainly stretch further...Our A$1.00 is worth about HK$6.00.
But its a long way for friends to visit.

Life can definitely be better elsewhere but you'll have to be prepared to give up your standard of living and be willing to adapt to and accept the new culture.
