She's the French woman that Sayid found. She was stranded on the Island for 16 years.....long before the people from the crash get there. Her daughter was taken from her....it's Alex....the girl who helped Kate and Sawyer in tonight's episode.

When the Losties first arrived on the island, Jack, Kate and Charlie went to the cockpit to get a transceiver to see if they could reach anyone, When they got back with the transceiver, Sayid fixed it and traveled with Kate, Shannon, Boone, and Sawyer up a mountain to get a better signal. They soon found a french transmission that has been running for 16 years. Afterwards, Sayid is ashamed for torturing Saywer so he goes off on his own to map out the island. He finds a rope and follows it into the forest. He gets himself into a trap. He awakens in a small space with a lady torturing him and asking him about someone named Alex. The lady torturing him was Russo (spelled wrong!). She knows the island pretty well and her daughter, Alex, was kidnapped by the Others when Russo gave birth to Alex by herself after she killed her group because she thought they had a sickness. They bring her in sometimes and they killed her off.

Russo is Danielle Rosseau and she is a French scientist who was shipwrecked on the island fifteen years before Oceanic 815 crashed on it. She had a daughter, Alex, who was kidnapped by The Others, and has since been trying to find her.

she is a frenchwoman(danielle rousseau) who was stranded on the island due to a shipwreck. She was with a team of drs or scientists and they all were "infected" and died. the others stole her daughter, Alex
