Sexy clothes land women in trouble only because we live in a culture that not only accepts but condones rape. Saying that some girls are asking for it or that deserve it is totally ignorant. I long for the day that a woman is allowed to wear what she wants without fear of ridicule or assault, just because she wants to.
This includes everything from burkas to miniskirts and skimpy tops.

Sexy clothes should not land women in trouble, it is their choice to wear what they want. However, the sad fact is, it does land them in trouble. Some men view these women as pieces of meat, and think that the women are "asking for it". This is not the case. Women just want feel and look good for their own reasons, not to be mauled by men.
Then again there are skanks out there who dress that way for attention, and they get it. This makes men think that every woman dressed the same way wants similar attention. They don't.
Women should be free to wear what they like when they like, with out any fear of repurcussion. Be it abuse, unwanted attention, or name calling. Respect to every woman out there.

If a woman dresses like a slut, the people around her (men AND women) will treat her like a slut. What is a woman saying when she wears sexy clothes other than, "Hey, I'm available, come f me." This is not to say that rape is permissable - of course it's not. Clothing is powerful. When I am about to go into a situation in business where it is important that I get the upper hand, I power dress: high heals, well tailored skirt, blouse and jacket, totally professional. If women want to say that's prejudice against women, well then, okay - if you were at a business conference and a man showed up wearing tight jeans and a muscle undershirt, wouldn't you think he was an idiot? Hello?

I'd say no.
I do think it's important to dress for the occasion - I would never wear clubbing clothes to the office (or vice versa).
However, when I DO dress up to go dancing, it's not because I'm "looking for something" or "asking for it." It's because it's fun to dress up and express a part of my personality that I have to keep controlled during the week.
Honestly, if the world was fair, a woman should be able to walk down the street stark naked and be perfectly safe. (And men should too, though I don't think they'd be in danger the same way.)

I would say this depends on where you are. I have been to Europe and seen women dress very sexy and that's it, just sexy for attention or to impress. However, in America some men seem to think that if a woman dresses sexy she wants it, and they use that as an excuse for rape

Sexy clothing does not mean letting it all hang out.
A woman wearing a simple black dress can be seen as VERY sexy and sophisticated .

Women often get blamed for rape for this very reason--their clothing. But that's called blaming the victim. Why should women be blamed for their clothing when it's men who can't control themselves? I'm not saying it's all men. I'm just saying that the woman shouldn't be blamed for being the victim of a man's very reprehensible act.

Just so you know regarding the rape issue being brought up. Lust can be part of rape, but it's more to that as well. The myth is that rape happens because men can't control their sexual urges, but that is not necessarily true. Rape is usually about control, aggression and humilitating someone. I used to think that the rape cases in prison was from homosexual men, when in reality most guys in prision who rape other guys are actually straight, and they didn't rape them because of lust, but because of domination purposes and humiliation. I took health class and many myths were explained about such things. My professor has been to many sexual assault clinics and said that there have been many 80 year old women, infants, and autistic women that are raped. Therefore, implying lust was not the reason.Guys who obviously are scum, but have an anger towards women, because of their own insecurity, etc abuse women via beating or sexual assault or is a characteristic that prompts such dispicable actions.

That is a yes and no answer. It all depends upon how said woman acts when she's wearing the clothes. There is slutty acting and there is non-slutty acting.
Incidentally I live in Saudi Arabia and I have seen covered girls (women included) who act even more slutterier than their uncovered American counterparts.

I don't think clothing gets women into trouble, but I do think that we're judged by our appearance first. If you dress provocatively, then that's were people's minds will go first. This is great if that's what you want, but if you're trying to move into upper management, it's probably not the look you want to go for.
