For those that need an NFL history lesson, read the following:

The last team to make it to back to back Super Bowls from the NFC was the Green Bay Packers back in SB XXXI and XXXII. The last team to make it to two consecutive Super Bowls was the New England Patriots (SB XXXVIII and XXXIX). As for Chicago not facing a real team, I am guessing that defeating New Orleans (being the #1 NFL offense) and Seattle never happened a few weeks back.

That being said, Chicago has a better chance to return to the Super Bowl and redeem themselves than many think. First, defensive powerhouses Tommie Harris and Mike Brown will return and bring that defense back to the top of the league. Also, look for Lance Briggs to be re-signed to help hold the line with Urlacher. Also, Ron Rivera may not be leaving for a head coaching job, which gives him another season with this vaunted defense. Second, the Special Teams Unit will return intact. The Colts showed how scared they were of Hester, thus keeping the ball away from him during any kick-offs. Imagine how he will be next season for Chicago. Also add in that Gould is a seasoned professional that has been recently compared to Vinatieri. Third, Lovie Smith will be getting a contract extension with the team (unless Jerry Angelo is brain-dead). Smith has molded a team into a vicious playoff contender in just three years and reached the Super Bowl in that time. Look for the Bears to hold on to him and further propel this team to higher levels. Finally, the offense will make the improvements needed to put the points on the board. Cedric Benson and Thomas Jones have become a solid tandem running unit. Bernard Berrian and Muhsin Muhammad have solidified that receiving unit, with Mark Bradley and Rashied Davis adding to the WR corps. As for QB, look for Smith to clamp down on Grossman by putting either Griese or Orton in position for the starting QB job. In other words, Grossman won't be walking onto the field with an automatic job. Smith's faith in his players should never be misconstrued for naiveity.

The Bears were not at full strength and yet beat two of the top NFC contenders at home. Next season, look for Chicago to become the next team to reach the Super Bowl in consecutive years (and if they face the Colts, vengeance shall be served).

BoomBoom what are you talking about in recent years have you forgot the Patriots? They just did two in a row. Anyway the Bears are not going to make it back to the Super Bowl. The QB controversy is just beginning. Now the Colts going again is a real possibility. They have had this awesome team for sometime. New England was always in there way. The Colts have owned the Pats these past two years. Im saying the Colts Super Bowl winners again next year and then Tony Dungy retires Peyton and Co. win one more after that. Peyton retires as best QB of All-Time.

yes, next season will be the bears beating Indy in an overtime thriller ending with a Robbie Gould fg! They have to be the favorites right now to win the NFC. though the if the Saints make a few good move to their defense it could be tough. Indy may go undefeated next year, unless the charges come up big and might, Patriots are done they should of never beat chargers its sad when your best play was throwing an interception! My dark horse team is the dolphins and bills.

They have a good team, and a decent chance in the weaker conference. Other teams that will give them a run for their money are San Francisco, St. Louis, and maybe even Detroit, as well as some teams who actually made the playoffs like New Orleans and Philly, but the Bears are probably the odds on favorite at this time to repeat as NFC champs. Let's see what happens this off-season.

the Bears have a good shot. the NFC is a very bad conference right now, and i don't see any major NFC north team beating them outright (Green bay is catching up, but when Favre retires, then the team takes a step back)

now Seahawks are becoming less and less of a threat. Cowboys needs work and Saints needs to fix their defenses. those are the major threats to them come playoff time.

If the Bears do get in i really doubt they can win unless Grossman suddenly gets incredibally better, or they find a new and good QB.

They have a good shot, they are returning almost every starter and will have one more year under the current systems and the NFC is still weak. The Chargers have the most talent, but I see a team like the Patriots or Colts knocking them out.

YES!!!! They are a young team overall. I am a Colts fan, but before the Colts arrived in Indianapolis I was a Bears fan! They will make it to the superbowl once again. The question is: Can they beat the best team in the AFC?

The Rams have far too much talent not to make it to the big game(even though I live in Wisconsin).Bulger,Holt,Bruce and Steven Jackson are all great players.Tweak the defense and you could have the NFC representative. On the AFC side,The Patriots should return for another super bowl run,but don't count the Chargers out yet.

Yes, Tommie Harris and Mike Brown will come back and Rex will mature. I forsee a rematch of the 1986 super bowl with the same result

Doubtful. They only made it because their conference was so weak; they just weren't that good, as was aptly demonstrated when they had to play a real team. I think Dallas and Seattle will both be better next year in the NFC.
