I really think you need to study history perhaps anthology as well
...and not just rely on a quick answer from yahoo.

I mean a Haitian from Benin? You want to know if they are of Muslim or Yoruba descent?

Haiti and Benin are two different countries so which one is that person from? Where did they grow up? Where was that person born?
Muslim typically describes someone who practices Islam.
Yoruba is a ethnic group. Those things are necessarily mutually exclusive still a Yoruba could be a Buddhist or Christian.

With all due respect, you sound not the least bit, confused.
i am also wondering why you haven't asked a elder in your family these questions?

Haiti is the oldest black republic. Haitians are descendants of African Slaves. This connection between Benin and Africa is quite possibly all in your mind. Also being Muslim means you practice Islam. So being of "Muslim descent" doesn't make sense. The fact that you are Haitian and you're asking a question like this is quite shameful because this is basic information that you should know. Please read the site that I provided below. You are embarrassing me and I'm not even Haitian.

Haitians are from Africa, that's for sure, but I don't know from what place in Africa. Better to think that Haitians constitute a different ethnicity, instead of Benians (?). Anyway, I thought that most Haitians practiced the vodoo religion, not islamism. (before beeing converted to catholicism).
