I recently put in a new nvidia 7300 GT video card, and it worked fine for a week, but then I began to get this error.
Does anyone know what this is about?

Sometimes the blue screen says that I should locate and disable sr.sys

This is an Everex Impact GA3400 Desktop Computer.

Josh and mrresearchman pointed out a possible solution to problem #1, you may have accidently damaged or loosened a ram card when you installed the video card.

your second problem:

SR.SYS is the filter driver component of the System Restore feature in Windows XP Its overall purpose is to allow a user to "undo" a software installation.

It does this by creating periodic restore points and then monitoring what "interesting" files are changed since the last restore point. Interesting files are defined by its extension and what directory it is in. SR maintains a log of these changes and a copy of the files before they were changed. It will only copy a given file once into the current restore point. Try hitting F8 at start up to get the start up menu and click "last good version" if that doesn't work, un-install the software you got with the video card go to the website and get the latest drivers.

(perhaps your graphics card is not inserted fully or
sometimes the contacts on the graphic cards get oxidized, you can clean them with a pencil eraser then wipe the eraser stuff off the card with a clean cloth or tissue)

Ohhh blue screen of death, that sucks. All may not be lost though. Locate your OS cd and boot with the cd in the drive. You should get a message before the blue screen of death that says "Press any key to boot from cd". Hit any key and from the menu it brings up, choose "repair installation". If this has no effect, switch back to your old video card and see what happens. Good luck!

turn on the laptop and insert the working disk (the only that installs vista or xp and so on..). Then restart the laptop. while the disk runs up it would desire to have an option to repair. click on that. this might desire to restoration the concern otherwise your Ram went undesirable. Please do not pay attention to the 1st answer. This guy might desire to artwork for geek squad. it rather is there in basic terms answer. They consistently choose you to reinstall the OS simply by fact of a virus. it is Ludicrous.
