is there a difference between destiny and Fate or are they both the same?

Destiny is what is thought to be your destination in life. Fate is what you get.

Destiny is something that you have some control over. For example, if you wanted to become a great heart surgeon, you could arrive at that destiny by attending one of the finer schools, interning at the better hospitals, continuing your education at every opportunity, etc. Fate, on the other hand, is something that is largely out of one's control. For example, being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Destiny is generally viewed as a purpose, whereas fate exists with no regard to purpose.
With destiny, you have a role to play, a purpose to fulfill. "His voice was like an angel, it was his destiny to become a star." "She was destined to die behind the wheel, the way she was always speeding." "They were destined to be together". It is a plan, a grand scheme, which comes together despite all odds.

Fate has no such grand scheme. You can be ill fated, and have uncommon bad luck. "There was nothing anyone could do. She was fated to die in that crash." "I don't know how he succeeded, fate must have smiled on him." "The fates must love him, the way he never gets in trouble for his antics."

Destiny is the grand plan, while fate is what happens despite all plans.

I think they are relatively the same yet i think destiny is more of a broader sense then fate is. Destiny to me seems kind of like your whole life while fate is more of the memorable moments ppl have that can either be good or bad. Most people it seems do not believe in this until something really unpredictable and highly unlikely happens.

I didnt believe in either of this till last summer when my life literally changed and i cud actually see my destiny a little clearer. To start the story, i was kinda sort of dating a gurl. we both had the hugest crushes on each otha, yet we were too scared to tell one another cuz we each thought we wernt good enough. So we dated otha ppl to make each otha jealous, and might i add it worked really well. all those relationships ended quick cuz well there was nothing supporting them..this lasted over a year...Well last summer the worst thing happened. Her ex got jealous of me b/c she had been bragging about me and was in love with me and he didnt like it. So he manipulated her to hanging out wit him one night...to keep it short..he drugged her, beat her, tortured her, put some kinda chemical in a rag and put it ova her mouth to knock her out and rapped her and then kidnapped her and drove half way accross texas with a loaded rifle in the trunk and her in a drunken/drugged stuper. he got pulled ova and arrested...that wasnt the end...he brainwashed her..idk how, but he did...so she went out a week latta cuz she had a melt down and flipped her car in an attempted suicide b/c of him...she didnt die...she held out in the hospital for a week, and then passed away. i told her i love her..she told me the same..it was the last words she ever said. it was heartbreakin, especially when i found out from every1 how much she loved me and how much she wanted to get married and have my kids and all that good stuff...and i wud have loved to do all that wit her..just tragic that we cudnt find out how we felt till it was too late..she even wanted me to be the dad of her lil gurl, and ive taken that responsibility in her honor and cuz well i love her and i wanna give her baby the best life possible...but there was a light..a light in her best friend and one my friends too...we both were goin through same thing and we got close, real close. we fought our feelings cuz it just didnt seem to feel right..but we gave in and feel in love and well we r engaged now and r razing our friends baby as if the lil girl was our own. this is a long story yes, but it a perfect example of fate. there is no possible way i wud have expected a gurl i loved to pass away and then find love in the most unlikely place. but it was a more of good fate in the end becuase now i see my destiny, and it is to take care of this baby and b a good husband to my fiancee and do wutever i have to to keep them happy and safe. its my goal in life, its my destiny, and i will not fail.
