Push-ups work out abs. If you want to work out your biceps and triceps then do some pull-ups.

Yes they are; I was lake you, no money in high school, push ups gave me a chiseled chest and my friends were jelous; push up works chest and triceps (closeer hands more work for triceps, more separated hands more work for chest). For biseps you can do chin ups. And don,t forget shoulders, you can use, a heavy book or a galon of water (wich is about 8 pounds) on each hand.
Push ups are aerobics excersises so they are not supose to give you a lot "Conan-like" mass but resistant. Pro boxers and sweemers most of the time get those chiseled pecs and abs without weiths (some of them avoid weights for fear to lose flexibility).
Of course gentic is a factor too, some guys can do great with just a few push ups others need more work.

Push ups are a great exercise but more is needed if your interested in working the entire body.
Area most stimulated by pushup is the chest...however secondary muscle groups include; shoulders, triceps.
If your keep a good plank position your core will also be kept in check.
You would want to incoporate at least 5 exercises total in order to hit all areas of the body.

James.

Definitely, push-ups is the best exercise to build your biceps. You can also do pull-ups, its an awesome exercise for your shoulders and arms. You can do sit-ups for your thighs and crunches for your abs. Basically you don't need to go to the gym at all. Just run for 30 mins and do these exercises everyday.

pushups are a reat way to workout your shoulders, chest and triceps primarily and your wrists, forearms and abs secondarily. Do them and dips and you will be doing a great upperbody workout. Throw in Pull-ups and you work your total upper body. Your body weight is all you need anyway unless you want to be an Arnold!

Pushups primarily work your chest (pecs) and triceps. They do not particularly work your biceps.
Pullups or chinups would complement by working your back/shoulders/biceps.

Pushups build Bicepts and Pecs (mostly) And doing a pushup is like bench pressing half of your body weight

Using your own body weight is an excellant way to get in shape. Do squats also. pushups and squats with some crunches will build symatry and give the v-shape torso.

push-ups can help build your chest mass and biceps but more like making them stronger instead of more of shaping them
