A generous gift from you.

Try chapter 3 (p. 45ff), written by Abu Talid Ahmed, in War and Memory in Malaysia and Singapore, edited by Patricia Pui Huen Lim and Diana Wong (Institute of Southeast Asian Studies, 2000).

There is also Paul H. Kratoska's The Japanese Occupation of Malaya: A Socio-Economic History (University of Hawaii Press, 1997). Kratoska also had a book published in 2002 called Southeast Asian Minorities in the Wartime Japanese Empire.

Then there is Nicholas Tarking's A Sudden Rampage: The Japanese Occupation of Southeast Asia (University of Hawaii Press, 2001).

Good reading.
