The 13th Warrior is my favorite movie of all time. The book (Eaters of the Dead) is also great, but for some reason I can't get enough of the movie. I've heard that it was significantly cut down when there were problems with the director and writer, which makes me wonder if there will ever be a special edition or director's cut release on DVD.

Either way, I absolutely love this movie. It's my favorite interpretation of Beowulf (though the recently released movie Beowulf & Grendel was also excellent).

Who else totally loves this movie?

LOVE IT. Had my hesitations at first, but my dad actually got me into watching it over dinner once. Was very pleasantly suprised, and he and I got into fights of "who actually owned" the DVD until I bought my own copy!

I was pleased with the film. One of the things was the use of authentic language among the Norsemen. There were a couple of thigns from the book that I wish they had put in the movie (the scene with the dwarves comes to mind, as well as the explainiation of why Buliwyf was reacted the way he did when he first learned that Ibn Fadhlan could write) but for the most part it was good. Event though I hve it on video I still watch it when it's on one of the movie channels.

yea, loved it too. it made me go out and read crichton's book.

that unknown actor did a great job as Buliwyf (he also looks like Thor). it was like a survival story that had non-stop suspense and made you feel as though you were one of the warriors.

The ending was kind of a bummer though. I was expecting to see a dramatic battle with a superhuman being, but instead we get a skinny lady and her poison-tipped talon.
