Yes, it's very normal to have light spotting of brown or red during your pregnancy. If it starts to flow like your regular period then you have a problem. Some times spotting just means you're having the start of a yeast infection. It's also very normal to spot for the next few days after a check up down there. To be safe though you always want to call your doctor.

Below are some articles that will help you.

Congrats and good luck!

I am 8 weeks pregnant with our 4th son and have had brown spotting with all 4 of them during the first trimester. Doc says it's "old blood" and some women are just that way. I would definitely see your doc, though asap.

i had spotting at 7 1/2 weeks. it was fairly dark brown. of course it freaked me out because it CAN be a sign of miscarriage. i called my doctor and was seen right away. they did an exam to rule out cervical problems... then did an ultrasound to rule out ectopic pregnancy. the neatest, most reassuring thing was seeing my baby's little heart beating. everything was fine! the moral of this story: it's probably fine (some women just spot early in pregnancy), but to make you feel better about it, you should see your doctor as soon as possible!

If you talk to your doctor about it they will tell you that your just spoting, and the color might be brown, but it's blood, like a period. Alot of females get it as they are going out of their periods and also when they are pregnent. To be on the same side, check with your docter.

Brown blood is old blood - so whatever happened is over and done with and not a current problem.
Mention it to your doctor at your next appointment - and they'll tell you it's normal too!

It isn't too uncommon to have some spotting during the first trimester. You should mention this to your doctor at your next checkup. However, if you have any kind of cramping or if the spotting gets heavier or turns bright red, call your doctor or head for urgent care immediately.
