i dont know much about trucks and i was wondering...what does 3, 2, and 1 mean on the shifter. i use "D" for all my driving. my truck is an automatic..thanxs. do the other numbers give you more power or something or is it just used to haul things?

3, 2 and 1 indicate the forward gears that can be selected manually by the driver. Doesn't really give you any more power, but keeps the engine in the power band by preventing a shift to the next higher gear. Good for tow/haul up and down steep grades.
