No! He was not corrupt. People have twisted the entire meaning of his books, especially The Prince. He doesn't believe that all leaders should be tyrants, acting cruel to their people for their own benefit. He beleived that "a prince" must be a little cruel to gain his people's respect, but in the long run, the cruelty must benfit his people. He can't be too nice or everyone will walk all over him or too cruel because his people will have a feeling of contempt toward him.

That's his main point. There are many other good ones. I think all leaders should read the The Prince. All of his points made so much sense. You can apply them to anything.

Kind of a vast subject. Anything in particular you want to know?

Probably the most important thing in Machiavelli's thoughts, the iea behind the whole work is that the Prince, in order to be successful must appear to be good and just, and yet can not afford to be either of these things in reality if he wishes to survive.

Machiavelli , was an idiot and his philosophy is total idiocy. He had brains, but no grounding in reality. Reality is truth ... not lies. Lies are not real! Truth is reality. Wake up1

Truth.

Lie to keep power? What power ? (99 Years) The power to be a tyrant, is weakness ... and. is fear at its most cowardly. It is wanting to control God. Can't do that, no matter how hard you try.

The power to love is eternal, and real.

Hope you learn well;
Jonnie

PS , Ok, I sense a what is truth argument coming on... It is what really happened... though many may see it differently --- what really happened to you? Know it. Easy OK.

It is better for the leader that the citizens fear him than love him. Therefore, keep the citizens be they common or noble continually afraid and on guard.
