Room thermostat light indicator turned on, but nothing else seems to run but just maybe the boiler? We went up to the attic and heard boiler was running. Should we expect the pump to kick in before we can see hot air circulating? Odd thing, we noticed our downstairs centralheater run a bit warmer than usual when we set the thermalstat downstair to be 65 degree.

Maybe your pump has broken. Or if you haven't used your CH for awhile the pump can silt up. Give it a whack with a rubber hammer or something similar before you get a plumber out. The central heating needs to be run for ten minutes every two weeks even during summer to keep the pump from silting up. Hope it works for you.

Do you have enough water pressure in your system? When I have problems, it is usually resolved by topping up the amount of water in the boiler. Check your manual, but there should be a tap under the boiler to allow you to top up.

could well be the pump just stuck from not being used,or some of these pumps start to stick when they are getting worn, certain pumps have a removable plug at the back of them and inside is a small slot for a screwdriver or an allen key hole etc, often you give them a tweak and away they go and once run for a few seconds they keep going ok all winter.

I assume with you talking about a boiler you have steam heat. That's not really central heat. Which do you have, gas heat or steam? I don't know what your talking about with the hot air and boiler...
