How to Install Game Patches on PC?

I have downloaded some games like Need For Speed Cardbon Edition and also I have downloaded Patches for this game but i don't know how can I Install Patch Help Me please

go into the folder that the game is in and replace the .exe file that usually starts the game with the patch then start like you normally would ta da
