Why do women wear like 3 pounds of makeup every day? They look just fine exactly the way they are. Why Change it? Is it because they want to Impress us guys i mean come on. If you cant get the guy that you wnat by being yourself, then what is the point?? I just think that they should look like they want to look, not how they think they have to look.

I remember hearing a saying about this... something about not painting a barn that doesn't need it. I know some people who wore so much makeup when they didn't need it that by the time they really did, it didn't look natural on them. There are also people out there who were raised to believe that makeup is sinful, whether because of the "vanity" of wanting to look nice or due to the historic relationship between makeup and prostitution back when makeup wasn't so common. So, two options - concern or offense. I have nothing against makeup, but I do warn teens about wearing too much. I remember taking a friend to a guess-the-age game at an amusement park. The attendant thought she was around 26.... she was 14, and he'd been guessing younger than people looked.

It's because of three things in my opinion:

1. The Media
2. Other girls
3. Guys

So, the media basically rattles off stuff at us everyday. Well, for girls, it comes in many forms, but the most deadly, I think, is the fashion magazine. Flip through them and you'll see the first 10 or so pages dominated by gorgeous women looking effortless. Many of these ads are for makeup. It seems likes an instant fix, put on eyeshadow/mascara/foundation... and you look great. It all sounds so pretty and easy, just swipe it or rub it in or swoosh it over your lashes and you look "enhanced". For the guys, it's like... something telling you you can get a six pack in 3 days if you buy something... that may sound lame... but just think of something you really want. Most women actually think they look good too while wearing it... or at least better.

Other girls is a huge pressure believe it or not. When you're about 13, lots of other girls start wearing makeup. You're kind of clueless... some people are telling you not to do it... but then you see lots of popular, cool girls wearing it 24/7. It's a conflict, and at that age, you're so insecure you might decide to wear makeup. Also, girls want to look pretty for other girls, believe it or not, and as I said before, makeup is an easy, fast "fix".

Last of all is boys. Well, it's pretty obvious, we all know that in our society, looks is pretty important. It's the sad truth, but guys care about looks, short term anyways, and if a girl wants to get some guy's attention, she is going to want to look her best... right? I agree, it's fake and sad, but we're human, we are meant to try to appear the most desirable for the opposite sex, and I guess makeup is a modern way of doing that.

I hope I've cleared things up for you, and I totally agree.

Everyone has a different look. It's preference. I agree there are women out there that wear too much makeup- on the contrary there are women who could use a little enhancement with makeup. Do what you feel best doing- you can give advice to those close to you that are going overboard. Don't worry about anybody else outside of that.

If you ever watch those commercials on tv for makeup it talks about how the women are embarrassed of their bad skin. Most likely the women who wear like 3 inches of makeup on their face are probably insecure about how ugly they naturally are. Probably another thing..they got wrinkles and acne that they try to hide...another reason for them to try to be perfect.

The fact that you have voiced your pleasure on a person being just who they are is encouraging - however the larger amount of men desire their women or potential women to present a certain style ..... therefore women go to all kinds of extremes thru dress, makeup, hair, skincare, etc in effort to find Mr Perfect(who most likely is not truly what is protrayed immediately) ..... for as humans we are far too quick to judge on appearance before knowing the person.

Afterall, beauty truly is in the beholder.......beauty is what comes from within, for that is the real you!

Women do it for a variety of reasons- many do it just to enhance their features (thus using minimal make-up), some do it because without it they look like extremely different people, and some especially wear a ton of make-up because they LOVE to experient with different looks and be chameleon-like with their apperance (such as some make-up artists, entertainers, or just for fun), etc. Not all women wear make-up to grab a guy to attract everyone's attention, but simply to boost confidence in themselves.

I don´t think we put make up on because we ¨´have to´¨ look a certain way,or ¨´trying to impress you guys¨´ simply we are just trying to hide some imperfections on our skin, or trying to even it out , and while doing so... sometimes we might over do it with the foundation or powder a bit. And that might be to blame bad lighting in our bedrooms or bathrooms or wherever we put our make up.

Interesting question !!

You should see some of the ladies here in South Korea. Some of them must use a cement trowel to apply foundation.

Some of the make-up companies here in South Korea must use propaganda campaigning; they always tell women that they must use their products, or they are not beautiful.

And it's expensive !! My ex had a "cosmetics account" 20+ years ago; would you believe a $300 balance she had to pay?

Make-up should only be used to highlight a woman's features, not create artificial ones.

Ever wonder why some years ago it was nicknamed "War Paint?"

Well, first of all, not all women wear a lot. And those who do? They think they look ugly without it, basicly. I personally think that certian women should wear some make-up to enhance their natural beauty, but not put on so much that they look really different.
But that's just me...

your right. totaly right. i'm a girl and and i rarley put make-up on. and when i do it's not heavy. just a little 'mascara' to make me feel special. some girls wear alot of make up either because it's the media or because they feel self concious. this may have never occerd to them, but thats most of the time the truth. i think if men told girs that they thought they were beautiful without make-up and cover-up, then they would feel better of them selfs. do you know the Dove Self-Esteem Fundraiser? i really support it. thanks for asks this question, it really spreads awareness. good job.
:)
