Guys don't like valentine gifts. Most of all do not give stuffed animals, cologne, candy or anything to wear. Quality figurines such as elephants, dogs, etc that say "masculine" and are just great little art pieces are appreciated. Don't get anything electronic either hardware or software - certainly not a CD or DVD - or anything homemade and nothing with pictures of lovely you or your lovely family or your lovely vacation. And don't write that yucky stuff about love and "always" and "without you" crap.
And if you don't know your boyfriend well enough to know what would be important to him then you shouldn't get anything at all.
P.S. No flowers. Do not have anything delivered to him in class or at work. No oversized cards. If a card, make it funny and clever and not romantic. Girls are from Venus, boys are from Mars. Stop trying to figure each other out.

There's an old saying, the way to a man's heart is through his stomach. Give him a food gift. Maybe traditional chocolate, or a gift card to a favorite restaurant. Or fix him a home-cooked meal. Does he have a favorite hobby? How about a CD or DVD? Maybe tickets to a sporting event or a movie he wants to see. If you get tickets, get two of them so you can go with him. Have fun!

Sometimes the simplist thing is the best appreciated.
The hand written poem.
The original handmade card.
Singing the song that most closely says what you think about them.
A romantic dinner.
A quiet corner in a cafe and some hot sweet drinks.
Giving them a record of love songs that most suits the occasion.
A book of poetry?

Valentine's Day is for females. If you see all the advertisements on TV, they cater mostly to the female population. Flowers, candy and jewlery. You don't see one valentine's gift for men advertised. Best thing you can give him is yourself lying in a bed of roses nude. He will thank you in his own way.

Do something you wouldn't normally do that he sometimes begs you for but you still won't do it no matter how good he is to you and he will have a very happy Valentine's Day.
