im a gamer/wanna be tech. guru and im here to help you. first you need to consider cost and buget. a ds will run you about $120, psp $180-200 ish, and gameboy $70. the ds/ gameboy are from nintendo and their aim is to have fun especially for kids. there are plenty of games that are fun filled for your kid like dora, pokemon, and even spongebob. now a psp was ment to try to counter the ipod and ds at the same time. BIG PROBLEM WITH THAT. they are so complicated (for kids) and are way to easy to break. they are so fragil its not even funny. games arent kid friendly are kinda hard to underdstand. yeah about the internet thing on the psp, i dont think your kid will set up a wireless connection, set up his ip and dns server and get the internet that limits what you can do. so basically get a ds cause it can also play gameboy games and is aimed for fun.

I would get him the Nintendo DS. The DS is more interactive, which gives a better learning experience from the games, plus when you compare game libraries, the DS has more kid friendly games as well as educational games, while the PSP has more mature games. Plus gameboy games im pretty sure can be played on the DS

Either the nintendo DS, or the game boy SP or below.
My brother always played nintendo with our neices and nephews whom were just 5 to 8.
I asked him about buying a psp...and he said, "That for mature people. Many of the games are target for teens and adults and I don't want the kids to be affected by it."
I wonder why...I really want one.

I would reccomend a Nintendo Gameboy for him. Since he is very young , he may find the DS's touch screen to be a little frustrating. The Gameboy has many easy and fun games for a 6 year old, and you can find it for a very reasonable price. The PSP isnt very good for someone small(expensive and doesent contain many games suitable to him). I hoped that helped

DS is real popluar these days. gameboys are classics. just make sure the game is rated E for everyone and not M for mature. cause m is for violence blood guts sex . i would start with a gameboy. easy to use. small too. not big like the DS. depends how well the child can hold a portable system.
