I'm a woodturner and I've made a tool out of A2 tool steel. I'd like to know how to harden it and anneal it. I also need to be able to use a shop torch if possible. Thanks!!

Hardening A2 Steel is not as easy as you think - the temperatures required have to be adhered to strictly and the process can take several hours. I assume you understand how to heat treat steel, this website might give you some more information (see link)

Well, unless someone "here" works at a tooling company or mill, you're likely not going to see a useful answer, as metallurgy is not a "sexy" science.

However, if you know of any mills or foundries in the area, you can always contact them, since the general steps and theory is open domain. If you know someone at a tooling shop, you can ask them how much they'd charge you to do it for X mass of tool. Depending on how many steps are require and time for set-up and tear-down, it could be very costly.
