Suppose a baseball is shot up from the ground straight up with an initial velocity of 32 feet per secon. A function can be created by expressing distance above the ground, s, as a function of time, t. This function is s= -16t^2 + v0t +s0 (The function that describes this problem is (s =-16t^2 +32t + s). Where do I start with the following question. (The ball will be how high above the ground after 1 second)

I think you mean

s = -16t^2 +32t + s0

This is the formula that tells you the position of the object at time t. So plug in 1 for t.

s = -16t^2 +32t + s0 = -16 + 32 + s0 = 16 + s0 feet
