I know the difference between both and I've applied and been accepted to both programs. Pharmaceutics is in schools of pharmacy and pharmacology in medical schools. Both are Ph.D. programs. I was wondering if anyone had any insight into which would be a more beneficial degree if I wanted to get a position in industry working for Merck, Pfizer, GSK, etc. I am not sure which to accept. Also does getting the Ph.D. in a school of medicine differ greatly from obtaining it in a school of pharmacy? Convince me of one or the other.

As the first sentence states, I know the difference between the two subjects and curricula required for both. Please take note of this. I am only wondering which is better for working in industry. PharmD is not an option for me.

1. There is no need to be a pharamacist to get the advanced degree of pharamacy or conducting research on drug development.
2. It doesn't matter if you study in pharamaceutics or pharamacology in order to working in a big pharmaceutical firm. However, it does matter what you know and master. In fact, both degrees can open the doors for you to the entrance of phamaceutical companies.
3. It is a tough life as a Ph. D. student and even worse as a reseacher. Thus, only the person has passion can prevail. You might wish to check out the research topics of every faculty members the institute that you applied and find something that ring a bell for you.
You might find that some reseaches such as drug metabolism may occur in both departments.

Actually, picking either Pharmacology or Pharmaceutics is better than getting a PharmD. My wife's a pharmacist. If you want to work for the drug companies, it's better to have a PhD in one of those fields than to apply with just a PharmD. She had a high school friend who went to the same pharm school as her. He did the joint PharmD/PhD program because he wanted to work for a drug company.

If you want to work for one of those three companies, I would suggest getting your PharmD dgree. They usually employ Pharmacists more readily than they apply regular PhD recipients, because of the direct relation to the Parmaceutical field of Pharmacy School. In Pharmacy School yo learn the chemistry of medicines and the body, and how each type of medicine reacts once it is broken down and absorbed in the small intestine. In a regular PhD program you may not get the exposure to this sort of information.

i will completely relate to this, because i'm a stepmom, and the bio mom can not stand me, both! trust me, you are able to have any opinion you pick about the bio mom.... if she's a b***h, then she is, and not in any respect something you say or do not say is going to regulate that. regrettably, the possibilities of you having a sturdy relationship such as her are very small. there's a tremendous variety of jealousy in touch interior the determine/stepparent relationship. some human beings can get by potential of that and make friends with the different mom, yet maximum can not. the most perfect suggestion i will grant you with is going like this: not in any respect say something undesirable about the bio mom in the front of (or interior of an identical room with) the newborn. in the adventure that they say something undesirable about their bio mom, do not make stronger it... say something fantastic quite. once you should search for suggestion from with the bio mom, be fantastic, and do not hunch to her aspect if she begins to be mean to you. see you later as you guard your pleased demeanor and do not talk undesirable about her in the front of her children, there is no longer something she will ***** about. do no longer make a friendship such as her be a precedence. Make the happiness of the newborn #a million, and also you may do wonderful. it really is an quite troublesome job being a stepmom, and that i'm particular you're doing a tremendous job. i wish this permits you. sturdy success, and God bless you.

I don't think you are going to get any kind of useful answer on Yahoo.

Why don't you dig up some contacts in the businesses you mention (like when you go to the National convention of ASCP or whatever) and talk it over with PhDs working in the field. They know the answer to this question and can answer in an authoritative way.
